So, after talking with two knowledgeable dealers, sounds like the only straight forward way for me to replace the kick starter gear (small gear) on the back of the clutch basket is to buy a whole new setup. Clutch basket, gears, and everything all pressed together. I've already drilled mine out, and all i need are the gears... My motor has less than 15 hrs on it, so hopefully some that are new-ish... I know this is a long shot, but Anyone???? See pics for reference.

Once I get my footage back from Kelly, I'll post the video. It's not completely clear cut when it exactly happened, BUT, We were playing on a hill that was way gnarlier than our average riding... I just wanted to try to high mark it... Got to my high mark, and shut it down.... I was in a rutted out V, and had to roll backwards down a few rock step-ups.... With the bike in gear, I was using the clutch as my rear brake.... Here is where it is unclear when the gear broke... My Theory is when rolling in reverse, the kickstarter gear somehow engaged, and locked up the motor, and broke that gear....

Once I got the bike turned around towards the bottom of the hill, i jumped on and bump started it, and it was clear from the initial fire something was broken.... I stopped riding that day (fortunately), to prevent more damage.

Maybe something was assembled wrong, or maybe it was a one time fluke... I"m going to be f-ing pissed if I buy a new basket for $275 and it happens again...

That sucks! Hope it is a one time fluke because it is something I do on the same type of hills.

Bad heat treatment on the gear I bet.

I may have a spare.....let me look around.

I need one of the same gears for a 2002 cr125. Anybody have one?
