Looks like it got left wet and rusted the lining off, did you give it a thorough jetwash before laying it up for the winter?
I would make sure the top half of the stator cover is sealed and the bottom has a good drain hole in it.
Or seal the entire lot up with 10cc oil floating around in there.

N.b. corrected some mistakes in text. Spaces laying instead of using it up. Makes a bit of sense now.

Hitting the flywheel with a hammer to get it off could also result in loose magnets.
I didn't think of the water/rust (wish I had) but certainly agree it's a possible cause.

I was thinking the same thing. Gonna pull my rotor cover off and have a look. I generally stay away from water crossings but dont know about previous owner

no winter in new Zealand. ride all year round. no moisture got in there. it's also never been off before and only rusty where the glue was. just something to be aware of guys. this should only affect the bikes with ducatI igniton. .. 2010-2014 - I think... can't recall when they changed.

Thanks ghostmam, I have figured out where to glue the magnets and glued them back in. It’s running but not sure for how long.
