So was going to rebuild my 2013 wr125 silencer for my wr165 and took bolts out and core would not come out. Its banged up a little and did not want to buy new since it would look the same very quickly with the way there is no protection for silencer. What is the best replacement silencer and do not need spark arrester for races i do but would buy one if spark arrester does not hurt performance. Thanks

Powercore 2 no SA or turbinecore 2 if want SA. I just finished moddin a Q stealth from my 300 for the 165. Looks cool n sounds good but no riding yet unfortunately. WB165 custom shorty Q Stealth!

Short and thick - does the trick - wanna sell it ?
I like the WR 165 sticker - where did they come from ?

That ll cost you ten minutes

Press on upload a file button down on right side and locate file on computer - very easy-
From phone - connect phone to computer and locate in similar way
    harder from texts though

I noticed how loud my 165 was compare to an as new wr 125 I rode with on the weekend

I just repacked my silencer - pain in the arse design - non removable baffle

Managed to cram a big bag of the stringy packing material back into it

The wr165 sticker was stock wr125 sticker 'skillfully manipulated' with a black text n a knife :)

I cut my stocker down 100mm same as a cr125 but then sold it to head on here think it was for $50. Shit design for repackin but not a bad looking can I thought. Never used the stringy stuff before always the Matt stuff with steel wool round the core on Auskys advice. Makes em nice n quiet(ish). I think like you mate a lot of the noise is air box induction n pipe related more than silencer.

I'm a fiddler(in the mechanical sense u grubs!) so shortened stock 300 silencer to same length as cr250 silencer/power core 2(which I got with gnarly) n had the q stealth left over(was one that had split/cracked at rear mount). Decided to make spare 165 silencer(also have power core 2 for 165)in case I bust one. Chopped qstealth down again(had already been chopped for 300-don't need SA here) to remove rear mount/cracked area that had been rewelded(was splitting again but near Allen head screw hole for cannister removal). Re drilled holes, had boilys at work weld a SS washer on end cap to reduce diameter to same as power core 2(25mm ish), made a new stinger out of 25mm electrical conduit(SS) with little tab welded on for rubber grommet stop, moulded to shape with pipe bender(cheers plumbers n sparkys) n flared it out for pipe junction using a 20t hydraulic press with tapered bolt shaft. Boys welded her up n fit up was sweet. All in work time using work materials, tools, equipment n labour! :) Bought boys some beers n they were happy! It's much fatter than power core 2 but same length. Shouldn't affect swing arm/brake line on full compression but will keep an eye on it n launch some flat landings to check. Picks up front qstealth mount nicely so no moddin required there. If I'm on classifieds looking for new rear brake line/subframe/swing arm you'll know it didn't work out! Sounds good in shed but didn't get out on it this break. 2 weeks time I'll let ya know how it goes

Man I use way too many brackets in my posts!:)

Oh well you had me fooled

    How quiet is the muffler?
    - next task
record it and up load to Youtube so you can post here
Should only take a couple of hours LOL

Like I said to you - My YZ was fairly quiet and I temporarily tried the muffler on the WR and it still had the annoying high pitched noise to it

Id like to try to reduce the noise that comes through the carby with some sort of insulation on inside of air box

A bit of Jif will lessen the look of those wear scratches on the plastics too Craig

Maybe when comes time to sell but only cosmetics to me so I don't worry bout it. Insulation or foam in air box work without affectin power ya reckon?

So fmf silencer is the one to go with I do not want to modify anything just buy and bolt on. Since I already have Walts custom fmf KTM 200sx pipe a fmf silencer would match.

Yup fmf is the go. Reasonably cheap, look good n work good. If you don't need the SA jus get th powercore 2 as its shorter, cheaper n lighter. Sorry for the slight derail above but I guess it's somewhat relevant.

Hey Shawbagga, what effect did cuttin the original silencer have on performance, exhaust note and noise?

Not much diff in sound really maybe a little bit tinnier n slightly louder at full noise but bugger all tbh. Same with performance, touch snappier/better pick up/throttle response but not much in it. Jus liked the look of the shorter cr length silencer I saw on a 2014 model plus less likely to get damaged

I personally like the feel of the longer silencer

On my old bike I changed from a long one to an mx silencer and it didn't seem to have the same feel up top - it hard a shorter punchier power maybe but not as smooth and long

By the way repacking didn't seem to improve sound - not sure why the new 125 sounded much nicer , maybe the baffle is blocked up - very hard to clean

I've got a Scalvini carbon fiber silencer I'd sell. Fit my FMF pipe perfectly on a 2012 CR165WB...
