Hi all, thought I would do this again. Yea, I'm bored. First race is next Sunday 8/23 in Maxville FL. I may be ready, LOL. Still have suspension to put on, once I get it back, graphics to install, & lower shock bearing to replace. I'll be cutting it close, which is nothing new, but the race is about 90 min away so I can do a Sunday morning run if needed. Racing Master B this year so it'll be very interesting.
Hey my bike looks just like that! I probably won't have mine together until the night before the next race lol. Good luck this year you B rider you . What lift is that?
HBD MotoGrafx here in Daytona. Ronnie is a local rider & also does AmPro Yamaha's stuff & # plates for NEPG events. Hoping to have it finished tomorrow.
Well, here it is. A little flashy maybe for an old man, lol. But if your gonna ride slow, ya gotta look pro..... Now what color gear do I wear, hmmmmm.
Well, the 1st round is over. Not a great finish(8th) but I did survive. With the heat index in the 105-110 range, my 3rd & final lap on this beat up 12.4 mi course was not pretty. Had a crappy start(of course, stalled it) & burnt myself out trying to catch the pack. But I didn't fall off or go down, just love this bike.
8th B is better then 8th C . It's crazy how important the start is considering you have 2 hours. It sure would be nice to not be dusted out for a change lol. Really looking forward to all the reports!
Round #2 is Sunday 8/14 at the infamous Gatorback track, even using the entire MX track! Gonna spoon on a set of Kenda Washougals for this one, it ain't your usual Floriduh sand monster......
Round 2, Gatorback Cycle Park near Gainsville FL, was a challenging course for us flat landers, LOL. The property is an old limestone quarry which means lots of slippery ups & downs. Another crappy lap 1 meant a lot of work to be done, but if you're making up a bunch of time on these "B" riders, you probably belong in A class. So just made my other 3 laps as clean as possible & ended up in 12th out of 22. I'll take it, but need to work on my starts & not making dumb mistakes. In 2 weeks rd#3 will be in Bartow FL, which will also be Round#7 of the AMA East Coast HS Series.
Thanks Tommyboy, I'm late on my race report. Still going through G2's 4000 pics, haha. Here's one, looks like I have a dead squirrel on my visor. Went rag doll into the high grass after leaving the bike in 5th. Jumped right up & couldn't find the bike the grass was so hi, lol. Are you the one I talked to on the start line?
Mondoon Hill FL FTR HS#8 1/4/15 Kinda missed a few races so I'll just catch up later maybe. Got another mid-pack start but was able to finish the 1st lap without any dumb mistakes, a definite goal achieved. Been working on maintaining more speed as these "B" guys don't play around. Had 23 on the line in class & had worked into the top 10. Halfway through 2nd 10mi lap a tree grabbed my bars & I did my best "George of the jungle" impression ever!!! In 4th gear!! Needless to say, I spent a few minutes on the ground, trying to breath & make sure all my stuff was pointed in the right direction, haha. Straightened out my bars & went back at it, but lost 5 minutes. Finished my 3rd lap in 19th, but was glad to just be able to finish. Only damage on bike was a broken front fender that I can tell. Me on the other hand had my 1st experience with possible rib injuries, I sneezed Wed nite at home & went to the floor!! May go see the doc this week, but getting better every day. Won't be racing for a few months as layout for the Alligator Enduro started this weekend, & as trail boss I'll be a little busy.
Yea, that was probably me you were talking with on the starting line. My club put on the Mondon Hill event. This weekend we ran down at Okeechobee and just a little mud. I had a clip brake in my clutch assembly just before the start with the 84 500 and missed the start, went back to the trailer for a quick fix, and jumped into the race in progress. Ran two laps before finding a submerged barb wire fence and went down in the water with the bike on top. Got some help getting the bike off me, restarted and decided to quit while in one piece.
