I may have gone racing again, supposed to be retired... It all came together and worked out well, the weather was perfect so I went out to have some fun. I got another one of my patented last place starts and had my work cut out for me. I decided last minute that my best chance to get a good start would be starting in gear, knowing that it doesn't start well in gear cold and these 125's don't warm up well in 40 degrees... Not only did it not start in gear but once I hit neutral and tried again it took 4 or 5 kicks to get it going. Not great but it removes any pressure and I can just ride. I also forgot to buckle my camelback and the loose buckle kept wedging into the cap between the seat and side panel tethering me to the bike. That kept me from standing up and had me frustrated. Then at the start of the second lap the bike ran out of gas at the end of the long fast start straight. The cheap Chinese petcock I put on doesn't flow well through the reserve screen so it runs the bowl dry. I took that opportunity to fix the strap on my pack and I was not exactly happy about it. The rest of the race was fun, but not too eventful. Here are the first two laps, you can see lap 3-4-5 on my youtube page if you want. They are not quite as entertaining as the first two. Lap 1 Lap 2 Later,
Was only able to watch the first video so far. One of the best I've seen in awhile. What an awesome course. It's fun watching you wedge yourself into and through traffic. The lines you chose, I would have never considered . Thanks for the video
Love the passing in the second vid. The slightest bobble from the rider in front of you and you pin it. I raced the hangover scrambles when they were at Jones Creek. Good times.
Real nice vids! really enjoyed watching them, well done. Want to swap starts View: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZQlbU0uVGw
I took 329 pictures of the event here... https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/105752584963716829285/albums/5964130044259368945 Good reason to never own a bike with airforks... Buddy Rory won the event big time. Here he is lapping Jake (and most everyone). Jake and Rory made the endurocross section look silly EZ while others spent a lot of time there.
Thanks for posting the vids awesome, last place start to near the front runners now thats what i call a man on a mission.
Nice! Who was the other Husky rider you "encouraged" at the first turn? Great outside line use in the beginning. Killer group passes at the first woods entry. Cool!
That was Brandon, he posts on here as PC. We rode down together and picked these bikes up together almost 3 years ago, damn time flies. He fouked a plug in the first turn. Thanks I try to ride smart be creative with my line choice and not wait in line, but I try not to pass like a complete ass. I get the opportunity to ride with a lot of very fast and talented riders, sometimes it rubs off. Out of the top 5 overall finishers I get to ride with all of them fairly regularly. I took some video of some crazy stuff the 1st and 2nd place guys were doing yesterday. Fun times. Later,
Some photos of the top guys... Rory Sullivan, now a CafeHusky member... Keith Sweeten, Champ class trials guy, mixes it up in EnduroX and is getting really really fast off road and MX. Needs to work on keeping his goggles on... Jason Matheney, Expert trials rider and my main parts guy for non Husky items. Don Boespflug, Pro MX rider back in the day, top american rider at Erzberg a couple times.. And I don't seem to have a picture of 5th place... so here is one of me. This is not what you want to see at the start of a race... My brother took photos while I was riding, here is what we got for most of the classes. We missed the beginner and vintage classes and the kids race. http://www.pbj.mx/Motorcycles/2014-EVENTS/2014-HANGOVER-SCRAMBLES Later,
Jake that was the worst start ever!!! But dang sure made for great viddy as you redeemed yourself by passing the crap outta those guys!! That tip over sucked because they were slowing you down. NICE ViDDY!!!
