    Hi all,

I see where people are using fork oil levels from 110mm to 130mm on 2013 and earlier models. I've got an Italian 2014 with the 48mm KYB's and want to make sure that I can set the fork oil level to 130mm from the top and then add through the bleeders if necessary.

Is 130mm from the top ok on this model?

    Thanks.

The KYBs are dual chamber and the 110-130mm measurement (I think) is for the open chamber forks like to 50mm Zokes on the older models. The dual chamber forks on the newer Yamahas take a specific cc measurement in the outer chamber... I would think the 2014 KYBs you have would be similar, I would refer to your service manual.

BTW if you start at the lesser cc you can always add 10cc at a time through the air bleeder hole if you want it firmer in the initial part of the travel. Same goes for the open chamber forks.

The Kayaba forks on my 2011 WR300 and 2013 WR125 are open chamber design. I am running about 100 mm level in mine.

Wow! I didn't know that, I assumed they were dual chamber. Sorry if I misled you GhostRider.

    Ghost Rider,

It still holds true that you can start with a level of 130mm and if it's too spongy you can add 10cc through the air bleed screws which will bring the level up about 10mm. You can double check the 10cc=10mm by simply testing it on one of your forks while you are servicing them.
