Nice! I know there are several members with 250 or 300 2 strokes. Maybe a few with 450's. I haven't seen much written anywhere about the 430's. I think most of us are curious to hear your thoughts once you have more time on it. Do up a review if you have the time. I think there are quite a few Italian husky owners who are searching for a new home.
FYI note one of our local trail hardcore leaders (former Pro MXer waaay back in the day) happily sold his FI WR450 (hated it) (loved his Carbed WR450s) and bought both a 430RR and 390RR Beta, loves both!!! he said for the uglies/goodstuff/technical rocky/tight Tecate stuff, he likes the 390 because it just feels super light (probably just feel, don't think it weighs that much less), older we get lighter we like!!! haha history is funny both the 390 and 430 are iconic Husky models from back in the day.
I read that the 430 was the 450 after they reconfigured everything. My local dealer only had this one left and '16s were in such demand it might be a bit. After a few visits I was sold. Anyway, just got back from a quick rip through the woods and considering I'm completely in a daze from a weekend of riding my little husky cr 125, this bike is insane. Besides the weight difference it's a surprisingly easy bike to ride. I kinda took it easy, while its breaking in, but even laying low on throttle it goes in any gear at anytime. Suspension is a little stiff but not bad. Electric start makes things too easy. Gas tank could be bigger and I've read seat concepts makes a softer seat, but that didn't bother me much. Overall in the hr or so I was out I'm quite impressed. I'll never turn my back on my 2t's but they may have to take a back seat for a bit. I'll post more when I get more time on it. One review I read said that more time on it the better the motor and suspension got. Can't wait to find out for myself
i'v read one 390 revue [might have been chilly] they gave the 390 a big blahhh for power not quick and revvy like the 350 and not ballsie enough to go over or through anything like the 430 all and all they were really bummed by the motor loved the rest of it though butt they sure are purdy
Yea I might've read that one too. This is the first "big" displacement bike for me, so this is all new. Wasn't/not sure what to expect, so the quick ride I had yesterday was a blast. Only a couple fire roads and a few laps on a small track. Today I'll get into a little tighter stuff and start to get a feel for her. Also I have a way to get a plate on it here, even though don't think it's on the list in NJ.
First oil change of break in on the new beta. Wanted to make sure all was good because we headed out for some sandy tight single track today. This thing is so much fun. For how much bigger the bike can feel at times it's very easy to maneuver. Was able to get on it a little more today too and it really does have almost an unlimited amount of power whenever you need it. Smooth delivery also. Definitely going to have to get back in the gym to get my endurance back up to deal with longer rides. After two hours of plowing through some sand I started to get a little sloppy. But never felt outta control. Having a blast figuring her out.
We have been selling the Beta 350 EFI bikes, they are very smooth. Low portion of the throttle is very mellow, but rips when opened up. None of the on-off throttle jerkiness of other EFI bikes.
Got the plate on last week. Don't plan on doing to much road travel on this one but it's nice to be able to ride some places instead of loading up the truck. Rode it on a track yesterday and has fun but it's definitely more of a trail bike. Single track is where she's a blast. I haven't even adjusted suspension yet. Before next ride that's on the list. Also brush guards. Husky cr125 has smaller front brake lever so never noticed how many times I'd hit a branch. Almost ejected me once or twice
Just got done with a 40+ mile ride today. Tight, slick single track. Probably should've dropped pressure in front tire a bit, caused me to throw a good shoulder block at a tree, but other than that the ride was super fun. Still rides as good as day one. Was able to keep a good pace but did start to notice weight difference a tad but not till the end, mostly cause stop and go between trees. Also constant clutching really brought out the pain from a pre-existing wrist injury. With just about 50 hrs On her now and cold weather setting in this week ill have time to take apart to check/lube everything up.
