Word out of the dealer meeting is the 250 2T is available this fall. I hope there is a Husky version , but I doubt it . I think I am going to order one.

Well now I may actually start reading up on them. I never made it much past the "won't be coming to the USA" part. Thanks for the heads up .

I read that pricing is the same as XCW 2st , to much but cheaper than a X-ride and Xplorer and a much better bike .

This from a KTM dealer in Georgia blogging from the recent dealer meeting: http://georgiaoffroad.com/forums/vie...hp?f=1&t=60944

"The 250 2-stroke in the pics I posted tonight will be in the States for 2015, sometime in the Fall is what I was told. The other FreeRide models will not come to the States for the 2015 model year, but at least we have a start on them. KTM wants to test the waters with 250 and see how well it is received before bringing over all of them."

KTM website is updated with following.... man this bike has my attention...

    EXHAUST

The FREERIDE 250 R employs a brand new, low-noise exhaust system with an aluminium silencer and a sleek resonance chamber that contributes to the engine's great torque response. Compared to the FREERIDE 350's downpipe routed below the engine, the KTM engineers managed to route the FREERIDE 250 R's resonance chamber to the side of the engine and integrate it perfectly into the vehicle. Similar to the competition enduros, the two-stroke FREERIDE is homologated with a special power restriction kit and is even streetlegal on public roads in this version

    no powervalve??
    ENGINE

As a powerplant for the FREERIDE 250 R, the KTM engineers started out from the two-stroke engine of the competition enduro 250 EXC, developing it comprehensively further, lowering its weight by another two kilograms despite using an electric starter, and tuning it for optimum rideability. The FREERIDE 250 R's engine has a brand new cylinder with ports and timings adjusted to the intended torque response, as well as a matching new piston. Similar to trials bikes, the 250 EXC's complex exhaust control valve is dropped, which benefits not only the response characteristics but also piston durability. This makes the engine even less complex and even more rugged.

I'm seeing a short-travel trials bike with a seat and a 1985 KDX engine design - selling for nearly 10K. Okay mebbe that's harsh, but dang those prices are getting unreal.

They're an awesome bike, both of them.
Still plenty of run out model 250's for $8500.
350's are a bit more at $9750 but still great bikes.

Pay all that money and buy a better battery?

Here's the thing...these bikes are boondockers....best for nasty trails with a lot of obstacles (IMO)...So why would you not have a kickstarter on the things? What perverted engineering dept thought this was a good idea? Do these guys even ride?
No power valves, no kickstarter means a high price tag?

Bah, I was pissed just watching this guy.... I agree with him 100%

I'm glad I watched this video....that would have been me....out by myself....stuck in a hole with no way to bump start.... and I'm in my late sixties - so my endurance ain't what it used to be.

Sorry guys, I'm sticking with my trusted, proven KDX - it gets me home even when I'm wiped-out and ready to puke.
