2015 Suzuki RMX450Z rumours

We have had the Suzuki RMX450Z Enduro model in Australia for a few years now, maybe 6 or 7, without an update.

In all that time it has not been certified for road registration & has meant that only 2 states could use them on public lands (where they have a recreational rego system).

The latest rumour is that a new 2015 model is coming & that it will be available for road registration!!

Here's hoping it does & brings the Japanese back into the Enduro market here.
The Yami WR450 outsells everything else in this class, but is too fat for racing & the teams all use the YZ series bikes.

The RMZ will be on my 'try it out' list when I look for a new bike for sure.
This current model was actually the bike I wanted when I bought the TE449 I have now, but without rego, was of no use to me.

The RMX was at the top of my list when it came out in the USA. It disappeared from the market before I could get one. Hopefully they can bring it back to the US market as well.

no XR250s are real this is dreamland yea i shuda made the KDX a 420

AJP has the XR 250 covered and it even has the e-start and modern suspension .

I posted some sales numbers a while back and SUZ was second I think to honda in total sales ... Never would have guessed that from what is printed and written in many places on the web ... Adding a street legal DS(?) bike can't do anything but help I'd guess.

Since the RC4 days, if seems simple enough to see that their racer models are top notch and who is riding their 450 next yr in the ama? KR94, the current ama MX champion ...

Wasn't the KLX450 a proper offroad conversion of the KXF having a heavier crank, smaller valves, different cams, while the RMX450 was only a RMZ with lights, 18" rear quieter exhaust?
The RMZ was only available over here a short while because power was abrupt, lots of flame-outs, bad traction and generally not good for slower going in the rough. The KLX, although heavy, worked quite well in same conditions.
I bet a RMX450 with good jetting could be perfect in Oz.
It seem you guys have some room to let these bigger bikes stretch their legs :-)

Ray, Suzuki here are down to 200 a month with this bike. Back in 2012 when I wanted one, the local dealer was turning a couple of us away each week because of the lack of rego. If only Suzi had acted then, could have been a real hit for them

RMX is EFI & tunable. Yes it is just a modified RMZ. Wide ratio box, 18" rear tyre & lights - exactly what we'd like to ride, an MXer for the bush.
The KLX is a big heavy trailbike, more suited to a set of panniers in my opinion.

We do seem to like the big bores over here, torque is king on hills, but we do a fair amount of tight single tracks.
Most of us would likely be as fast on a 250, but love the extra power

Sounds like they might have missed out to some degree on grabbing some market share ... Companies, even large ones, make mistakes but can recover if they are willing to spend what might be needed for their product and some advertising ...

Like other aspects of life, sales and revenues, can run sort of like sine waves ... Something happens internally in a company and things can change ... sometimes it takes a little time but a company as large as SUZ can do alot with the resources they have ... That total sales number I saw was really surprising as I was thinking they were ok with going down and out on the bikes ... I'm not on a lot of websites, but many on each site like the plated dirt bikes ...

Look at what Husky has been through the last few yrs ..

I posted an article about IBM ... Apparently they chose the wrong route with making semi-conductor chips back in the ~2008 time frame and this allowed Intel to walk-the-dog around them ... They could recover maybe or whatever but chose to keep advancing in other areas ... And they can always come back later in this arena ..

Only reason RMX disappeared from the US was the EPA sanctions that forced Suzuki to buy them all back and stop selling them.

Probably a safe bet saying that EPA crowd were not SUZ riders ...

Amazing how in my area: Suzuki went from a major off road player, to essentially a non entity in 20 years. You seldom see a newer Suzuki 4T bike being raced or trail ridden. A few last generation RM250 2T's, Over the boot guys riding DRZ-400's and some tired 90's RMX 250 2T's

I remember I saw a pretty new 250cc SUZ, maybe back in 04 maybe, I think their racer model but not sure and for what ever reason, all the yellow plastic looked like it was ~5 yrs old and the bike was just a few months old ... it was just all faded-out looking for such a new bike. This guy was jumping the bike for show and doing some trails.

I hope they do make them legal here. Putting aside Yamaha's makeover of the WR450 in 2012 Japan is really lacking in up to date road legal enduros. When the RMXZ came out I thought it would mean a turning of the tide.

I'm keen for a look too mate. I do like my Japanese product, it must be said.
The WR450F was going to be my 'new' bike when it was updated withEFI etc, but was a real let down for me.

I have enjoyed my TE449, but it has been a love hate/affair more than any other vehicle I've owned.
(Including my flawed D40 Nissan Navara/Frontier)

That said, I'm still looking at the Sherco range as well
