Just got a new bike and was wondering if it needs to be remapped......I know the S does. The dealer said I could if I wanted too, but said wait till after the brake in period...I won't be changing the exhaust right away.

I couldn't say (I have a 310r like your old one)... but after a couple of hours of riding it, could'ja give us your thoughts about how the bikes differ?

I have ridden a '15 350 husky- definitely a nice bike, but my 310 felt more nimble & lighter (AND taller!). The 350 had more low end and about the same up top- I was surprised. The 350 gearing was totally superior- no doubt about it.

    enjoy the new bike.

You will find that after the break in period there will be a nice change in the power once everything beds in.
But if you've ridden it & are happy with the performance just leave it alone, there's no point playing around with the engine mapping just for the sake of it.

The street legal "S" models are way too lean and definitely need to be remapped, but you won't see much if any improvement remapping the non-S model. All you need to do is ride it!

Don't know what map is in it but there are only 3 maps I think.
The S map which is restricted as everyone knows, the US map and the EU map. The EU map has the most power.
I'm not sure about the 350 as I only looked to the 501 maps. For the 501 the 3 map system applies, even the aftermarket exhaust map is the same as the EU map.

If it has an US map and the dealer is happy to load the EU map, go for it! It has a bit more grunt and also works with the map switch.

Sorry to be the one to thread jack!
So if I'm interested in a 16' 501s I should get it remapped for aftermarket exhaust out the gate even with the stock can? I plan on adding the FMF 4.1 slip on down the road.

I thought the 2016's come with the map switch on the bars stock? If so, you don't need anything. Just ride it.

Yes, here in Oz they do I believe but the switch only works with the EU map, that might be the reason.

The S model definitely won't have the map switch.
