I picked this bike up with 71.1 hours and its very well kept...... Extras on it: Tusk Wheels IMS tank Sprockets and chain Protaper Bars and levers EE Radiator guards EE Handguards AT81 tires TM Designs guards First sitting on the bike. seat of the pants feel.... It fits me very well and seems slightly different than past years of YZs. I took a few laps around the moto track to get the feel of it and headed off in front of my 9 yr old on his 65.... felt really smooth in the power dept and you could hold the RPMs up hills very nice and just twist the throttle and it picked up the RPMs very nice and controllable when needed.... After a nice trail loop with the boy I headed out for my first serious loop since my injury in June of 2015.... First note on the suspension, very stiff when going slow but forks are unbelievable at speed... No deflections and no bottoming even at my 235#s..... Second, the bike feels overall really light, wider than the Italian Huskys and about the same as the Austrian huskys.... Note: I do like a hard seat (which it is) and a wider seat suits me too..... the bike also seems a lot more nimble in the tight trails than my 14' TE300.... Third, the engine is very refined..... Starts very easy, first kick every time..... no vibrations.... you can manage the power delivery up hills without wheel spin and if needed a twist of the throttle it picks right up and takes off.... On faster trails it flies right along and still peppy enough to lift the front wheel when needed.... End of the day feeling..... I am very pleased with how this bike feels and rides.... For the price its unreal and this aint yours daddys WR250 of the past..... Husky vs YZ Ergos = push Suspension = YZ Fit and Finish = Husky Price = YZ Handling = YZ Engine = push cool factor = Husky
Spring it for your weight and it will get better on the small stuff and plush when going slow. With your weight you are past the plush part in the initial part of the travel and in the mid right off the bat. I have re-sprung a YZ250 and 250Xs for a guy your same weight and he was able to get it working by adjusting the clickers and without a re-valve.
Well just going off old Jap bike setup of 1" free sag and 4" rider its about right.... don't seem to be setting to low..... not sure if that's changed.... boy I love the bike overall.....
yep the ole 35/100 formula, is the best industry standard place start. I am editing this one, my 2t 300 is on lighter spring rear than I usually use ( short static sag in the mid to high 20s a little over 100 race sag somewhere between 100-105. .46 springs up front, .48 worked but in tight stuff the front ended up too high because I ride too far back on seat due to my size.
You should be running close to .48 forks and 6.1 shock depending on your riding level and your height. I'm not sure what stock is and since you bought the bike used the springs might have already been changed to something different than stock.
Hmm nice - I would give fit and finish to YZ . I seem to remember some YZ bashing by you in the past or am I mistaken ?
By me? Surely in probably 1000 races over the years there might have been one to pass me lol.... Fit and finish is close but just needed different size sockets is annoying to me
I love the alloy frame , strong motor , quality bolts and front forks are awesome Also so bloody light - great bikes
Well I did the Muddobbers Enduro which is normally a National.... This year it wasn't, but still had a 303 bike turn out..... The bike did great except the one thing that normally doesn't matter.... They cut their trail SUPER TIGHT.... when I say tight I mean you are turning lock to lock and squeezing thru trees that are 30" for 60 miles with a few hundred logs sprinkled in.... So the 5 speed reared its ugly head.... I hit neutral 20 times or so when going from 2nd to first.... always right before a log or steep hill..... sooo what to do.... I still need to be able to do 70+...... Now to figure out a plan for the next one....
Different oil or gearing perhaps? Haha I love a false neutral right before a log n u smash ya nuts into the bars n nearly go over em!
In our series you keep it at speed limit or below on road transfers, to keep neighbors happy. I don't have your Baja skills, to ride fields at 70mph, pinned on the 150 is around 60mph and that's my comfort zone.
I had the ole 250x flat pinned off the rev limiter in some sections just to make up for my slowness is the anti-fat boy areas.... and I wish they would've done only transfer sections on roads..... I don't like flying down pavement...
