I was am looking into a new TE150 for my next 2t woods bike, and I am trying to determine the history of this motor. I know the 250/300 are completely new this year, but what about the 150? Is this a similar version of the 2015/16 KTM 125/150 motor?
I know the carb is different and I have no concern with that as it is a proven carb.

My concern is, I do not buy the first year of any completely new model, as there are always small issues that get resolved in later production.

The other components on the TE150 are not a great concern, as they are proven chassis/suspension parts. I just do not want to find out I am doing R&D for their new motor program.

I understand your concerns, but if you just read the forum you posted in you'll find 2 other lengthy and detailed threads about the '17 TE150. They seem to perform very well and be basically trouble free so far.

I have read through all of the post I can find both here and on some KTM forums. The bike seems to be a great fit for those looking for a small bore replacement for the 200, which is what I am looking for. I had not seen any info on issues with the motor, but that is good I suppose. I appreciate the info posted here. Looking forward to joining the TE club.

Well, if you don't mind orange there's nothing wrong with a 2016 200 xc-w. From what I've read it's a great bike with a huge aftermarket, so can be tuned and setup however you like.
I don't like orange, so would go Husky, TM or Sherco for a 150 and keep wishing Beta would make a 200.

Lovin mine so far, carb has been the only downfall very finicky & stock jettin is horrible for my climate & elevation. Only downsides so far. Awesome bike!
