I have an 07 610sm. I bought a used 21" husky wheel to put on it. I know the hub is the same but with smaller holes for the smaller disc. What I don't know is if the axle and spacers are going to work. I would think it would since the hub is the same - has anyone done this? Also I bought a used brembo caliper and master cylinder which looks like it will bolt on to the SM forks, but I am not sure of that as the parts haven't come in yet. Again, has anyone done this? It looks like the forks for a TE and SM are the same but with shorter travel for the SM. I'm gonna leave the rear 17" as is. Since the BMW800 and now the Triumph Tiger 800 have the same size rim I feel like tire choice is not gonna be a problem.
You need 2 reducer spacers for the smaller caliper bolts to go with it after the extra caliper bracket is removed.I believe the spacers work just fine. The smaller disk has 6mm holes just drill them out to 8mm for SM size bolts.Go to our website of a black SM with this done.I think its under VARIOUS .www.billshusky.com or call me anytime toll free 888-806-1153 weve done a bunch of them.billf
BILLF - I have decided to use the complete 21" wheel with dirtbike hub and brakes on my SM. I looked at your black SM - Did you keep the SM master cylinder and connect it to the dirtbike caliper? Also I noticed that you are using the SM axle. Isn't it a different size than the dirt bike? Would I need to order different bearings and spacers to accomodate the SM axle in the dirt bike hub? Sorry for so many questions but I want to have everything I need before I change over. I appreciate your help, I will order all that I need from you. I will call you next week. I have to say, I have more expensive and "cooler" bikes but no bike I have ever owned is more fun and versatile. What other bike can you carve canyons with, swap the front wheel and have an impressive dual sport?
