So it's supposed to dip into the -20's here in Kentucky over the next two nights, I'm wondering if I should just drain the coolant from my bike as a precautionary measure. I run Engine Ice, it say's it's good to -25... I hope the weather man is wrong!!!

You will be fine. An overlooked aspect of coolant is that if it says -25 it doesn't actually freeze but starts to gel up a bit - like a margarita but less tasty. I live in the north and have run into that a few times. Also if your bike is inside a shed or shop, even uninsulated, it reduces the temp swings that the bike sees. If I find coolant that has gelled I move the bike or warm and then drain the coolant. Cam.

-20? You mean wind chill? We call that Thursday here...LOL I'm a few hundred miles North of you and the forecast is -7f actual temp here. Don't go by the wind chill number, that's just TV hype. Your bike will be fine. Looks like you have near 50f by the weekend coming so hang in there:thumbsup:

They're saying -28 without windchill for Friday morning. Record Breaking they say. Excited they are. All I know is when you have a farm full of 50 horses, there's nothing exciting, or breaking (except back) about any of this BS. However, it sure makes for some pretty pictures.

It's the water content in the antifreeze that crystallizes, but you should be fine. Our coolant doesn't solidify until -100°F and actually shrinks instead of expanding.

Not sure what forecast you're seeing but I'm seeing -6 at best for Kentucky. Are you talking Kentucky USA? Still cold but not far off the norm for Midwestern winter time temps. the anti freeze will be fine . 50 by the weekend so it'll be a distant memory soon. Come on summer!

Depends how many beers but yea, 40% of the time, every time I feel like I do. I travel a lot for work, mostly to Alaska, where I must say, it's much warmer these days!

May have to try some of that Zip Ty stuff, maybe I can get the local shop to pick it up.

From a wx blog, which tends to nail it better than any other forecast (including NOAA)

They use our coolant at the Tennessee Knock out every year. Shoot me your dealer's name and address and I will hook them up with some.
