I got the chance to ride a ~2007 Yammy WR 250f ... It was a nice feeling bike, lighter than my 08 TXC250, but in the engine department, the Husky was by far stronger ... The yamma-hammer did have more at the very bottom (0-1500 RPM) , but after that, it was all Husky power ... The yamma-hammer was alot slower revving also...

I liked the six speed on the husky also ...

Cool, fun bike. I came from a 07 Yam WR250F before my husky. I friggen loved that bike! Top notch single track bike. If it were FI, and had a plate, I would never have sold it. Did the one you rode have all the "free mods" done to it? makes a big difference on the power.

I still ride my 03 WR250f regularly. It is beat, but still keeps on ticking. Kelly hates it.

For me it is the bike of choice over my TXC when the riding is technical and slow. If the speeds are high the TXC is awesome, it is a great race bike.

I gotta find out what wr250 this was ... I don't wanna put out info on a bike that is past its prime ... Its a really good looking bike ... I might have been mislead by the looks and thought it was a newer bike ... This bike had the bottom grunt but nothing to follow it up ...

My TXC is great .... The 08 have the cool dual chamber Marzocchi forks ... Mine are pretty good now and I think I can make them a little better by removing a little more oil from the outer chambers or maybe removing a shim or 2 from the HS compression stack... (J, I'm sounding like a tuner now ;0))

Here are a couple of pics of the bike ...Can you spot what model it is? It has an Estart and cable clutch ... plus a big WR decal on the shroud plastics and a headlight and tail light ... ... He would try to crank it with the button and when it did not crank, he would kick it and it started 1st kick every time :)

Weighs as much as a DRZ650, has 12 hp, suspension is set up for a 92 pound pilot, turns like a rocket launcher platform, stops like Fred flinstones car and has ATV tires with .08 PSI each, and Jake still flys on it. :excuseme: I feel like a water skipper in liquid marshmallows on it. Won't go, won't stop bounching around, won't turn, it is a weird machine with an equally weird pilot :D Usually i pull up behind him and say "Jake you have a flat and your tire is off the rim" the response is "I know it has been like that all day" The Blue and white plastic looks great on it though. The white is not original it is multiple creases in the plastic. Looks like tie-dye. It's a wonderful machine.

It is probably a 2005 or 2006, it has the steel frame. It could be a clean 2003-2004 also, I would need to see the swing arm to tell for sure.

    see

Here it is before the last ride a few weeks ago. all cleaned up.

My buddy had a 2007 model with the aluminum frame and I doubt it was lighter than my 09 TXC 250, but it's pretty close. I really liked his bike. It had really good bottom end...a little better than my TXC 250 and the suspension was marshmallow'y soft. The compartment felt too compact and tight and I'm only 5'9". The think was stone reliable though and he put on a $#!*load of miles before he got rid of it!

    I love the WR.
my dad has an 05 450 that is fully uncorked and has a GYTR exhaust and some other bits, and the thing is fast.
I think Yamaha will have a real hit when they make the new YZ450 into a WR.

I was a Yamaha guy before i was a husky dude. My first new bike was a 98 YZ250, great bike. I had an 03 YZF250 i setup for woods and LOVED that bike. When i sold it to buy the all new and completely untested 04 TE450 I was really scratching my head why. Luckily I liked the husky and the rest is history.

My 03 YZF250, 20" front wheel, rekluse (when they first came out), revalved (by me) both ends and fork subtank (by me), etc.

I think Husky up to now has always slanted their bikes more to the hard-riding / racing side of the house than the user friendly plush out of the box bike ...

Racing is the heritage of husky and what they do / build. They are big in europe and win at the highest levels for many years. They are race bikes first and trail bike second.

Love the Yamy WR250F. it is more flickable and has more bottom than the TE. It is a little agricultural to look at but a real fine DS bike that performs well in ST and enduros.
I did not like the Kato 250 for 09 or 10. It is a racy motor with less bottom the the WRF. I found the suspension to be ok but not great, especially over some of the sketchy country we have here. I am not a suspension guru but I think it not as refined as the TE or WRF suspension

I'm not a suspension guru either but I read where some of the kyb open chamber forks Husky was using came from ~04 era asian bikes ... Not sure about the open chamber marzocchi some of the bikes have now ...

That bottom end makes a bike a lot easier to ride at times ..ESP in techno stuff but plays out quickly when speed is required ...

Yeah Ray Ray the TE's have not got the latest model KYB's they date back to circa 2006. Apparently still better than the mazzochs. That said I have been happy with my forks.
It looks a little to me that with the newish forks and the efi Husky has not brought the best or top shelf stuff to the table.

BTW, that WRF looks to pre date 07, which is basically a YZF with a softer detuned motor and suspension/w a head light.

I think I read tonight that you removed a little oil out of your outer chambers? How goes?

I probably got all excited over whipping an out dated bike :) Motor wise, it was almost like pro vs. amateur ...

Yep, removing the some oil helped greatly ... I'm at 260ML down from 280 ... might try another 10ML and see if it gets even better ... And some guy over mentioned to remove a shim or 2 from the HS stack that I might try later but now it is good enough ... I'll do a little track riding today to verify it still work OK there ... Then maybe remove a little more oil ....

If it didn't have the free mods done it is only getting 3/4 throttle and feels about like an xr200 maybe worse...

For trail riding I kind of prefer the 5 speed of the WR, it is less busy. Also the WR has a higher top speed than the TXC by about 7mph, 81 on the WR to 74 on the TXC. Both with stock gearing. The WR motor has not changed a ton to the current version.

I have an 03, 06 and 07 in the garage at the moment, the newer ones are friends and the motors all feel really close once the jetting and free mods are done.
