Throwing this out there as I've been in prep mode all week. I'll be on row 51 running B Open, tent or bed of truck camping Saturday night. Swing by and say hi if you're around. I'll either be there solo, or taking a fast kid with. If he gets his new main seal in his RM 250 today, that is. Not sure what to expect at this one, sounds rocky and more desert than I've ever done, so it should be fun. Delong didn't do so bad there last year. They're calling for a high of 52 on Sunday, so should be excellent enduro weather, the rain is all but out of the forecast, which is unfortunate, it would've been nice to have no dust. Anyone else running it?
Ah, well, it helps if I checked this. Ended up going to bed early Friday and driving Saturday morning in the land of no service. I swear after I hit Wichita Falls, I could barely get a roaming signal. Made the drive less exciting when I had to turn off Spotify and try to find something else to listen to. Now that I'm seeing the post and putting it together. Yep, pretty sure we were camped a couple spots down from each other and a couple rows from each other. I seem to recall seeing a Husky with 105 side plates. I have to saw, having not ridden for 5 months. That kicked my butt. First section I needed to soften my forms a couple clicks, but didn't get a chance to until the pause before Section 2. By that time I was already beat up. Then Section 2, was that when the rain started of section 3? Anyway, road better then, but still felt like I forgot how to ride. Section 3, the A/B only section, was a mother F'er. It shouldn't have been as bad as it was, but I seriously could not ride the 250 how I wanted to ride that stuff, and so the RPMs got higher and the traction got less and less. I can't explain how much I wish I had the 360 in during that. Section 4 was the A only section, which was good because by the time I finished 3, I had about 10 minutes to gas before Section 5 started. By this point I had already been experiencing random muscle failures and was overall having a bad day. The A/B split for the transfer before section 6 had me pissed off a bit. I was already behind schedule, and new I couldn't run that transfer, conserving any energy for the final test and still make it to the check on time. So, I ended up rolling through 37 seconds into my minute and rolled on through to finish out the final section. After I loaded up and rolled out, I drove until about 12:30 and slept at a service area for a couple hours, then drove the rest of the way home, unloading and hitting bed at 5am. Had taken Monday off work. It's Tuesday now and I'm still feeling like I got hit with some serious baseball bats. And got a hell of a chest cold to boot. Blah, need to shake it off, the toughest enduro of the year is Sunday.
