    Hey everybody,
Just got my 310 last week. It was bought at Taskys so the power up kit is installed already. Mine seems to pop a lot on off throttle,is this normal?
Other than the popping I LOVE this bike!

usually- a little popping on decel is normal- sometimes with an open system you can hear it more- and if its running good the air fuel ratio can't be too bad- I don't have any knowledge of efi tuning though and what you should expect- so take that for what its worth- maybe someone else will chime in

I'm going to ride mine for the first time today. I'm riding at sea level over here in NJ. Maybe there will be a difference.

Is it uncorked yet? Catalytic removed? Some popping is OK as long as it's not excessive, a little snap, crackle OK, big bang boom, not so good.

A lean (or way rich) mixture and/or exhaust system air leaks will cause this popping. During rapid throttle close, oxygen-rich cool air gets sucked back through these small gaps in the exhaust joints and ignites unburnt fuel.

I understand the fuel map on the 09s is a bit leaner than on the 08s. I have zero popping on my 08 TE250 w/PU kit, but my 06 TE450 did from time to time, exhaust joint leaks were to blame.

Call Taskys, they'll know if it's normal.

    Some popping is normal.

I rode a TE510 that sounded like a machine gun when the throttle was closed... maybe an easy way to document things is a 15 second video clip? Put any camcorder over the shoulder with the camera on (video not important) and upload to Youtube.

I turned the idle up to 1900-2000 and it seems to run smoother. I will check with Taskys and see what Jeff says.

I don;t know if the baseline software for the 09 is out yet. my o9 310 seems to run better with O2 sensor in and with the cat out and SA out than with the O2 out and plug plugged. Very very minor decel pop (more of a blip) and only whne like going from 40 to like 15 mph. Was baselined using 08 software and was made slightly richer on step 1 other than that stock. I LOVE IT! I do still miss the 144 but I can think I may learn to treat the 144 like an old girlfriend..........Still appreciate her and respect her but not ridfe her any more.

Joe, I wonder if it will settle down after break in? Assuming you don't have a lot of time on 'er yet..... Mileage on the 08's was better with O2 sensor in place an Arrow can installed, some were a bit twitchy do to leaner mixture though.

I have the te310 too. Same problem with popping on decell. had it remap fuel injection. With o2 sensor out. Set fb1 to 117. fb2 to 107. fb3 leave at 100. bike runs 100 times better.
