390 brake rod or cable

    My `79 390 has brake rod at the moment, it is slightly out of shape so is it possible to fit a cable instead or should I just straighten the rod out as best I can???? Thanks!

    Just straighten it out, or make a new one.
    560mm long rod 5.20mm dia, 6x1.0 die thread it , braze washer on for spring stop, from chain side plate make return spring attachment, couple bends in a vice.
    Husky had the patent on the anti skid brakes, cable makes it worse.
