Hello, well this is my first post other than my intro. I have a '79 390 OR and wonder the interchangability with say a '82 CR frame? I was thinking about building a fairly special built 'second' chassis with some 40mm forks and other tidbits and just want to make sure my motor and pipe will bolt in...here's a pic of my latest purchase btw..

    Thanks, Hans

So you want to swap the 79 OR motor into a 1982 frame???

40 mm forks are a direct swap onto your 79 frame.....

yeah, I know it's just my bike is very original down to the frame paint..other than that damn red tank...and I want to make some drastic changes that will require frame welding and I would rather build a second chassis from a bike getting parted out. I hope i don't get slammed here, but I guess I'll say it out loud... I want to build a sort of low slung MXer, sort of a cross between a MX/flattrack/motard bike.....to zip around on a track I'm building on my property...that is a sort of a part flattrack part MX track, but with limited jumps, or not very high ones anyway...So I would be having much less rake in the frame than my OR as well so it turns in quick..

Just check swingarm pivot bolt size. Will have to make motor mount plates, and rebo pipe mountings.

Well that answers that, if I gotta make motor plates to fit a early 80s frame I'll just stick with a same style frame...

Has anyone ever seen a Husky flat tracker? seems the motors would have been popular back then since they were so powerful?
