The cod rod issue is now solved with a small amount of grinding.

Just started to put the piston on the rod and noticed that when the small end is fitted with the two alloy spacers there is still a fair amount of movement side to side. I know there should be some, but if moved to one side it starts to expose the end of the needle bearing. Is this normal.
The old piston is being refitted as it is perfect, so the old spacers are just being put back.

    Thanks for that.
I'm just not used to seeing the needles exposed.

I double checked after I posted with a 500 I have apart. Probably see .050 needles exposed past rod eye.
