What is the difference between XC/WR/CR 40mm forks on 82/83 bikes? Is it just damper rods or totally different forks? I want to put a 40mm WR fork on my 78 chassis.
    Thanks

The length of the dampening rods is the difference. The exception is the 84 WR lower legs have less over hang past the axle but still used the same WR dampening rod length as the 82-83 wr's.

Really doesn't matter, on whether you use CR/XC/Wr, because the forks are way longer, then you'll
need. I put a set of 1979 WR forks on my 76 360CR (78 125CR frame) & as you can see there
    way too long.
