upon my usual ebay searches, i found a dynoport. was at a decent price so it was a no-brainer!
when it arrived, first thing i noticed was how different it was from the stock pipe. much larger in the first half and much smaller in the second half..true to form as my other dynport, it fit like a glove, much better than the stock pipe.
welded up a crack, stripped and refinished, and mounted her up. tested it out sunday, and it pretty much wanted the same jetting the stock pipe was calling for..leaner on bottom and mid, same jetting on top.

sure enough, bike makes more power everywhere. the midrange almost caught me out a few times carrying the front tire thru some natural whoops. the bike still has a bit of four stroking at all rpms so there is even more untapped in there. i doubt i will pursue fine tuning it when it will just get a lectron. i may dig around and see if i can find a 3.0 slide to replace the 2.5 tho, lol.

you can file a 2.5 into a 3.0 . take 1/16 off the back edge but ending where the current cut away ends on the bottom edge

It looks like you are using the stock spark arrestor silencer not the matching silencer dyno port has or at least had last time I went to their site. Any idea how much difference either the stock non spark arrestor one or the dyno port one might make?

Just looking at the pictures it looks like the first bend, the one to miss hitting the rear of the front wheel is more gradual than the origional at least the used ones I have. It looks like it adds some length sticking out on the chain side of the bike. Didn't you have an avatar lately of a pipe tucked in lately? I was guessing it was on your next generation 360.

I don't know if it is nation wide or local but it seems the amount that sticks out (on the chain side) is modified rather often.

it is indeed the stock silencer with the original "clamp on" arrestor. it is mega loud with the arrestor off, even though the silencer is packed well. the stock silencer has a very small tapering core, which im sure can be a good thing at times. the dyno port silencer is a very nice unit with a LARGE core, but its fairly quiet. nicely built too..i only have the one on my 360 to go by however, but im guessing the one built for a swede is built to a similar mindset.
as for the pipe itself, it does stick out on the chain side quite a bit. the header area has an oval cross section, im guessing to maintain volume but stay closer to the frame. clearance by the coolant hoses and cylinder head is much much better and the bolt holes could not have lined up better..i will likely add one of their silencers as well.
the ceramic pipe that was in my avatar is from my 95. the heavy double-walled stock pipe was so poor that bolting on the dynoport was quite dramatic.

If you get a Lectron, let us know what you ordered, fit and options. I'm thinking of one for my 87 430. Might be soon.
I'm not aware of anyone who has put a Lectron on an 87 or 88 430.
    Thanks.

there will be a lectron on it. there really arent options to order, but they will machine the carb to fit your stock boots. it is also possible to match the length of your original carb as well.
i suppose the powerjet is optional, but it would be brainless to order a lectron without a powerjet as that is one of its main virtues..im guessing the carb would come with a 3-2 rod.
i would order a 38mm, same as i would get for pretty much anything, lol. many report the 38mm works well on the 125 and it certainly wont restrict the 430.

There is the Lectron on my 87. Phenomenal difference. Kelly will hook you up. Mine required no changes at all.

    Cool.
No changes from factory settings? That's great.

I want to eliminate the loading up on long downhills and no adjustments for elevation.
    Oh, and no stalling.

I've two of these presently, one on my '87 WR430 and one on my '96 WXE360. They are a bit pricy but very much worth it. I had Kelly send a throttle, cable and carb so install is super simple. No hassle tuning, bikes idle forever without loading up, super linear throttle response, increased fuel economy; cures whatever ills you have. I highly recommend them.

Great. Just what I wanted to hear. Time to order one.
Does it come with a choke?

There is my '87. I'm dual sporting this one and the 360; I've need to go on the road to reach the local trails. Great bike!

Comes with a choke knob but I hear you can fit a lever as well. The standard knob arrangement works well for me. I also went with a three position fuel petcock.

Yours looks very nice as well. Great bikes! Mine is super easy to start and doesn't seem to vibrate much. It doesn't put my hands or feet to sleep.

    They are great bikes.
Both my 87 and 88 ride well... other than the carb issues, no problems. Starting can be tricky, but I think the Lectron will help.
Vibes are not bad. They pull like a tractor and can lug at low speeds. I can't wait to see how the Lectron works.
Thanks for the info, appreciate the help.
