450 6k mile engine overhaul (myth or reality)?

    I have 5500 miles on my '08 450, and found this mess in my prefilter tonight. Does anyone know if this means the pin is pulled and I am sitting on a grenade? :excuseme: This is the 1st time I have seen this much crap in that filter. I think the metal is aluminum as it wasn't sticking to the drain plug.

    Looks like it might be Nikasil from the cylinder........

    Whatever the case, it needs a teardown/inspection.

    My 07 TE 450 needed it at 6000 miles. Lower bearing went. My cylinder needed recoating too.

    Halls did the work and the recoat they sent out. I think it was an extra $200 for the recoat.
