Took the VholdR for its first ride with F2G in the nastiness of Reiter, a local riding area east of Seattle. It's littered with rocks, roots, mud holes, water crossings sometimes all at the same time Bear with me while I figure out how to post the links to VholdR's server. Warning: the audio is nearly useless when moving along above 5mph, however there are occasional quips/comments and bike noise in the thicker stuff where we (I) slow down and/or fall over. I was worn out and and the camelback empty on these first 2 vids. Man, there is just no breeze deep in this area. The older Rockgardn armor I'm wearing stops a lot of air along with my ARC pants. Time to get some stuff that breathes. F2G's really liking the new mesh based Rockgardn. Hmmmm. http://vholdr.com/video/vholdr-video-6-2 http://vholdr.com/video/vholdr-video-7-3 This one is leading up to the root garden. http://vholdr.com/video/vholdr-video-17 LTR's suspension workover really changed how the bike reacts to the terrain. I found myself tightening up seeing some of the vertical rocks and roots and slowly discovered I wasn't going to get bounced off the bike anymore if I kept my speed/momentum up and just hit them. The trials tire worked well until getting clogged in the goopy playdough mud in some of the tight rooty stuff where it took on the characteristics of a slick. I wasn't able to lift the wheel with throttle due to lack of traction at times and had some "interesting" results-BONK. David was having a good time and once again made it look easy. The bikes held up well, as usual, and the weather was perfect. An ode to Kelly during one of our lighter moments http://vholdr.com/node/24476
Thanks for posting up the video, Ioneater! That looks like some seriously fun stuff! If I had a dollar for every time you killed that motor, I could afford a new Husky and a plane ticket to come up there and ride with you guys Eric said it's a good thing you have electric start, but if you had to kick start it every time you would have been cured of stalling it by now Glad to hear the suspension is making your life easier WoodsChick
One word.... Rekluse..... It makes the woods soooo much easier... It works so well it makes it look like I have some kind of skills.. Awesome video btw..
You're right Tami, I lug that thing way too low! Still learning that clutch thingy when things get vertical. I really need to ride more often to build on the skills instead of getting sore and relearning stuff every time. It was much better than last visit up there, though. One of the fringe bennies of this camera is being able to see what I'm doing or not doing. I've got a lot of room for improvement but it's still fun to be able to make it through all that stuff with no help now. 6 months ago I'd have been throwing my helmet after stalling so many times
Awesome I want more! I just love tight wood riding... a little quicker would be good but what the heck you're in there and it was fun Right Pictures are Ok but Man Video is the best. Thanx for sharing and post up some more.
Greg did fine...he's just not in riding shape and needs more seat time! I keep telling him that I'm amazed at how much he improves without ever really riding. I think he's finally getting the message...ride Forest ride! The bike's almost 100% completely done and ready to tackle anything...now we turn to the operator! So. Tac. Wy...anyone...Greg? It's true, however, that the Rekluse is going to improve his riding performance by 4-5 times overnight! Instead of focusing on the usual 5 feet in front of him and the clutching that goes along with it, he'll forget about the clutch and his vision will focus much further ahead and he can focus on setting up turns and picking better lines using his balance while standing instead of the usual sitting while letting the bike tow him all over the place! 1. Suspension done by Les at LTR....check! 2. Pirelli MT 43 Trials Tire...check! 3. Lowered seat...check! 4. Pivot Pegz...check! 5. Rekluse (waiting to be installed)...check! 6. Bike protection (bash plate, radiator guars, front and rear rotor guards, hand guards)...check! I had a blast and loved the video...gotta get a helmet camera soon. Greg, I had no idea that you talk so much when you ride! That was some funny chit I was missing right there and it was nice to hear that. As always, the video just doesn't show the severity that Reiter has to offer, but it gives you an idea. I have taken many a novice rider in those sections that would eventually ask, "how much further?" or "I'm done!" David
Here's another vid I didn't realize I talked that much either till watching these after the ride! Uploaded another clip last night. This one's in the first part of the day and is a little over 7 minutes long. http://vholdr.com/video/vholdr-video-15-1 Time to figure out how to lay some music down to mask that wind noise. :ride:
moose sahara,,,,,and lots of clutch slipping let the suspension work for ya. Great area thanks for the video!! looks super humid the trail glasses are a great choice! need to make a pilgrimage to your PNW zone it looks epic!!
great video and riding ! ...thanks for sharing BTW Is there anyway of "tweaking the sound" for less distortion..??? Our woods area will be open very soon...and looks very similar to that Hopefully my WR change up parts will be here just in time..... I will have my cam set up ready for our tight twisty trails.....I'm sure you guys are getting sick of seeing the flat out stuff I do
The Vhldr's audio is an issue for lots of folks after reading their forum. It sucks unless you're not moving or at a crawl. One guy made a foam enclosure with great results on his street bike at the track. Some have had improvements with a drop of silicone over the mic hole. I haven't try anything yet but definitely will. What the heck did the Vholdr peeps think we'd be doing with these things? Campfire songs? I don't have the the newest HD Vholdr that was just released. It looks the same as mine but can do wide screen or something.
