Right, the CR has the frame cut behind the seat. That is a Cross Country.

Engine cases where probably replacements from Husky, that's why the numbers don't match anything. Also all 84 500's where 6 speeds.

Yup I just had it going for a couple of mins what are parts availability like?
Can I replace engine components or are they rare and hard to find?
I found some pictures on the web and put it in a video I just love the sound I keep playing it over and over... maybe i smelled two much two stroke smoke as a kid and I'm brain damaged If I could get help in sourcing supplies like fraome paint shock rebuild side panels etc. it would turn out nice brakes and engine frame seem tight. and the shocks and forks i'll have to see oh and the rear tire needs air. 1983 XC 500 what a bike.

I would give it a resto as its a ripper start. should be easy to do. you would then have a neat very unique bike that you can just keep. if you have a ride coming up, it will be good for any type of riding, and no one will keep up on the straight bits.... warning  don't open the throttle till the straight bits.....

being air cooled, its easy to store, no coolant to keep an eye on and simple to maintain. go for it

okay so the decals I ordered came in today and I got the frame number some more pictures with frost I have it stored in an unheated area and this is Alaska! Any ways she started on the third kick after sitting for 2 weeks at 20F I rode it up and down my road enough to warm her up a it and move the ATF around ill flush out the case and change it again.
The original oil felt smooth no extra grit or metal so that's another good sign. gotta go here is the latest pictures image.jpg
