Do we have any more 500cc GP Racing in the USA or was CARLSBAD the only track? Do they still race the 500cc GP in Europe? Is this why the 500cc dirt bikes died off?
We got lucky I guess and I saw three 500GP's here in Canada. If I remember Wolsink won the first race I attended back in the seventies.- DeCoster;s bike broke on that occasion. Then the next one I saw had Graham Noyce win at Mosport in his Championship year. Also saw Malherbe kill it on the big KX at Motopark in his Championship year.
I purchased the 1980 CARLSBAD GP 500cc race. When LOP's Marty Moates won both motos as a privateer. Beating the factory riders. He ran away at this race with a stock off the floor YAHAMA 465 YZ that was reworked. The 300cc has 55hp but they don't have the big piston and flywheel torque. The husky 390 had 43 rear wheel horse power but I'm not sure what the husky 500cc engines were horse power wise. I wonder what horse power the 430's were?
Does the 300 two stroke husky has electric start and can it be registered for the street? Is it cr or wr tranny?
