....................i was surfing looking for 'spares for my spares' as one does when it has been raining for a week.
l have a oversize jug in its org box, it has a seperate part # for the ring it showed it up as a yz 490 oversize ring also (which at $10 new i brought).

l have a wrist pin to cross reference to check, but i think there the same ( S277 wiseco part#).

l wonder if the pistons are 'generic'to some extent, ive heard scuttlebutt of other pistons in huskys. They are cheaper across the board, and maybe theres some extra sizes??

    Cheers

The origional mahle ones are cast and have rounded surfaces for the most part underneath. The Wiseco and Woosner ones are forged and there is a lot of machining on the underside. Maybe the blank before the machining is sort of generic but there are quite a few variables of the end product. where the end of the rings or ring rides, diameter of wristpin and if it is offset, distance from wristpin to crown. and on and on. The wiseco ones have two rings don't they? I also don't know that they are cheaper (now, 2011) on a retail basis at least for the 500 husky two stroke.

A jug is generally a cylinder I assume you have an oversize piston in a box. Not sure what scuttlebutt means, I guess either rumors or nothing at all.

......................its just the piston ring Fran, the wrist pin is a different.

This wiseco has one ring, i have others of there 2 smoke pistons (for other brands ) with 2 rings though.

Ah well, tickled pink with my $10 replacement for the replacement ring though! ;)

Would be interested in knowing the piston weights though.......................l guess a heavier piston would have the same effect as a flywheel weight?
