I have just installed a new motion pro clutch cable on my 610 to replace a snapped cable. to get it to engage correctly i have to have it adjusted almost fully as per the pics below. i cant recall how the oem cable was adjusted but i am pretty sure it was not wound out this far. the clutch is very heavy and im not sure if there is a problem.

    any ideas or thoughts?

I think it's adjusted too much. The bottom adj. should be 3/4 of the way in and the top should be 3/4 of the way in too. I have 1/4" of slack in my clutch lever that way.

Do you have it in the " keeper " mounted to the case?

    keeper:confused:

edit: is that the 'loop' on the side if the case the cable passes through? not at the moment. with it adjusted that far the bend was too sharp i thought.

No, it needs to be in that loop. It's not too much bend.

well i put it through the "keeper" and you were 100% correct - it did make a difference. i now have the bottom screw backed off about 10mm to what is shown in the pic above. still seems to be adjusted quite a lot though.

    thanks 1lunger

The problem will be the cable length and the oe adjuster VS your replacement. In most cases like this you need to take off the clutch cover and adjust clutch push pin, there is a adjuster nut on the basket. Take up the slack buy 1/2 a turn in. Then you should have plenty of adjustment.

I was able to mount my motion pro +2" cable without any adjustment. How's it working Bensl?

after running it through the 'keeper' was able to back off the adjustment a little but i still think it shouldn't be adjusted this much. the clutch is very heavy so i will try doing what you suggested huskydude. i cant picture what you are saying but i hope it become clearer when the cover is off.

i have just bought a 310 so i am not getting out on the 610 very much at all now. i was going to sell it but i am quite attached. not sure what do do with her now...

I just replaced a stock snapped cable with another stocker....is is no where as tight as that.

I think that cable is too long or the cable jacket is too short.
