I had some condensation inside the gauge cluster of my 630 when I first got it. Hall's told me to wait it out, to see if it would dry up. Once the weather turned hot, it seemed to dry up.

On Tuesday, I got stuck in the rain, and now the water is back in there, worse than ever. It's bad enough now that it's making the display go haywire. Here's a video of the bike at idle. You can see the RPM display jumping all over the place. Sometimes it maxes out (which I now know is 10,000 RPM :)).

I sent an email off to Hall's to see if they'll warranty it. I think my warranty is officially expired now. But, I'm hoping they'll help me out since I expressed concern about this back when I first got the bike.

EDIT: Gave up trying to embed the video. Can't figure out the tags.

    Hi jtemple,
I just took home my new TE 630 today from Stratford, ON and love it, that being said I only received the paper copy quick manual. I was was reading on one of your previos blogs that you had posted the USB drives files. I know your blog said to PM you but I could not find this option which is why I am trying to contact you here. Would it be possible to send me the link or download info? Myt chain seems loose and I would like to see what the tension should be set to among other things. Tahnk you very much for your time and consideration and my apologoes for not using this blog properly

Why not ask your dealer for the USB stick? The chain does look loose ... until someone sits on the bike. DonĀ“t tighten it too much.

To organ donor, I have tried and was told by the dealer that one did not come with the 630. We both know that this is BS when I challanged him on the subject, he said "Oh most of the USB's are corrupted".

Quick question: Is there a reason why as a new member to Husky Cafe that I wouldn't have permission to initiate a conversation?

Yes, there are many reasons. It's not personal, it's just part of the screening process. As time goes by you will acquire more permissions. We do this to prevent trolls and spamers, it makes it a bit more inconvienent for new members but helps to maintain the overall feel of the forum.

So I got my new gauge installed, but there are some problems.

    1. The odometer and hour meters both were reset to 0. I thought for sure those values were read from the ECU, and not stored in the gauge cluster itself, to prevent tampering with those values.

    2. The speedometer is WAY off calibration. At an indicated 53 MPH, my actual GPS recorded speed is 60 MPH.

    3. The odometer and tripmeter are both WAY off calibration. I took a 40.9 mile trip, verified by my GPS. My tripmeter reads 33.8 miles.

Is it possible to re-calibrate this thing, and adjust the odometer/hour meter to the correct values?

My dealer told me that there is a "Reset" facility somewhere and that everything goes back to the factory setting. Think there might be some mention of in the manual. If you can find it, it might save a lot of hassle.

I'm not finding anything in the owner's manual, or the shop manual that give me any indication that this thing is adjustable. I did read that another model, maybe it was the 510, had a button you could press on the back with a pen or paperclip that would put it in a setup mode that would allow you to set the wheel size (which would cure my problem).

The new dash was completely reset out of the box; it's a brand new unit. It was still reading km/h, 0 hours, and 0 miles when I hooked it up.

The speedo and trip meters are so far off that it makes me think that this thing is set up to work with the SM, and not the TE.

Here's a photo of the back. I don't see anything back there that would appear to be any sort of reset, or setup button.

    No ideas, huh?

What I've done was gone from one useless display (because it was full of water) to another (because it's not calibrated correctly).

I'm taking my bike on a 2000-ish mile trip, starting Thursday morning. I'd really like to get this thing sorted out before that.

I took a pic of the tripmeter comparison:

Your account is fully enabled now, sorry. We are having teething problems with the newer software... and I've been off the internet for quite some time.

I really am sorry for the inconvenience.

Hall's has sent an email to Husky regarding setting up this new display. They've never done it before either.

Hopefully I get an answer by tomorrow. A 2000 mile trip is going to be kind of sucky with a non-functional display.

It doesn't look like I'm getting this figured out prior to the trip :(

2000 miles with a screwed up dash is really going to throw off my ODO reading.

Haha, that's one way to look at it. I can't, in good conscience, sell the bike and not be honest about the true mileage.

I may be having some issues with my cluster as well or i'm just an idiot. TRIP 1 and Average Speed (AVG) only register "0.0". All other functions/modes are appear to be working fine. Is this an anomaly or is there some voodoo magic i need to cast in order for these functions to work?
