Has anyone figured where the weight difference comes from between the 510 and the 630? Seems like most of the lightening mods knock the weight down to about 300, but people have scaled their 510s around 280 or less. Is the motor really 20 lbs heavier? Is more of the frame on the 510 aluminum? Never seen a 510 IRL so I was wondering if anyone had some input. Really want to maximize the weight savings on my 630 so I can't justify buying a "R" bike...

the 610 is heavier everywhere than the 510. Motor, frame, subframes, plastic, everything. It is what it is.

after owning both.. my best guess is the gear box, frame and subframe (in that order) contribute the most additional weight on the 630.

Interesting, 510 is aluminum framed? Or just smaller? I should talk to my machinist friend about a subframe perhaps... :)

do the 450 & 510 have small batteries like the KTM 525? If so, there's a bit of it...

My 510 had a battery very similar to the 630's battery.

sub frame on both are from the same material however the 630 is built with more material and gusseting to carry additional weight. IMO the extra weight is in the 630 wide ratio gear box and main frame.

ah well, it is what it is i suppose. having everything carbon would probably be the only way to shave the weight, just not cost effective.

I still think they are too heavy c/w the 610.

With the same set of mods (handguards, bashplate) my 630 only weighed 7lbs more than mt 610. I know the factory-published figures are different from that, but that was what I got.

And that 7lbs would sensibly be attributed entirely to the second muffler and crosspipe.

and when you slip on the Leo Vince ti the 630 is now 10lbs less than your old 610. The Leo droped 17lbs off my 630 from the factory twin anchors.

And out of curiousity what was the weight you got for your 630?

Found my original post on this topic...

Weighed my TE630 -- 334 lbs. All stock except: twin Leo Slip-ons, handguards and bash plate. tank about 2/3 full.

My 610 (on the same scale) weighed 332 with the same bash plate, dirtbagz racks (no bags) and handguards. 2/3 full tank.

Adjust for the DB racks, and they're only about 5 pounds apart with the Leo twins. I later weighed the Leo cans vs. stock and the Leos are 6lbs lighter.

So...that nets to only about a 10-11 lb difference between the two bikes, of which almost all is the second muffler.
