FE/FC 707 Racing Suspension fe 501s.

I finally threw down and had Joel Burkett at 707 racing breathe some serious mojo into my bikes suspension.
I joined the $1500 club and here is what I got. They totally gutted my 4cs forks and threw all the internal parts in the garbage. The only thing that remains is the outer tubes. They installed new springs, dampening rods, internal valving, new top and bottom caps with adjusters.
In the rear I had them lower my shock with internal spacers and revalve for my weight and skill. The shock revalve job was highly recommended by Joel to balance the bike and complement the work done to the forks.
The end result of all this work is a brand new bike that handles way better than stock! I only made very minor clicker adjustments to Joel's recommendations to dial the setup perfectly. Yesterday I pounded 150 miles of jeep trails strewn with deep whoops, ruts, rocks, and tree roots on the lost coast of Mendocino and Humboldt county's California.
Gone is the harshness in the front from the stock 4cs forks. The rear shock is absolutely phenomenal! I can hit obstacles of all imaginable sizes at any speed without any harsh bottoming or bucking! The bike now has a very balanced planted feel that is very firm but plush at the same time. I can't say enough good about this set up and the work that the guys at 7O7 racing have done for me and this bike. The whole job only took a few days. Normally they have a one-day turnaround time. They were in the middle of racing season and a holiday weekend popped up right after I dropped off my suspension thus the couple day wait for parts.

So who manufactures the fork internal parts and new caps that you had installed ?

I'm not even sure Big Timmy. There's a sticker on the fork that says lucky 4cs. They have been doing a lot of these WP 4cs forks over the past few years. They have tried several combinations of mods. This is their latest set up. They have a money back guarantee if you don't like their work. They will trade their modified forks for a pair of stock rebuilt forks in the event you don't like their work. The guys are very friendly and easy to talk to. They are racers. Anyways I'm gearing up now to do another coastal ride today probably at least 100 miles. Have fun Throttle on! One more note. Some of you will notice my forks raised in the triple clamps. I ended up lowering them back to the second notch at Joel's recommendation. The bike also handled better like this even with the shock Lowerd. Below the second notch the bike had a hinged in the middle twitchy feel.

So I wasn't wanting to have any work done. I was just curious and wondered who's internal parts they were using ? I figured you would know.

Dropping about $1000 bucks or more in the forks, it just wouldn't make sense to me if I had to pay that kind of fee not knowing ?

Yes I am very happy. When I dropped off my forks and shock Joel thoroughly explained all the work and parts involved in this conversion. He has all the details on the job and my rider profile on file in a database. Prior to choosing 707 I had heard many high reviews and testimonials from both racers and recreational riders regarding 707's work. Several other outfits are doing similar conversions to the 4cs fork. The real selling point for me was these guys are somewhat local. I was able to conveniently drive to their shop to drop off and pick up my suspension. Other companies doing similar conversions wanted close to $700. Most of them were spread out across the country and would have cost me several hundred dollars in shipping and insurance in both directions for Express shipping. I have experience using one of the race mechanics at our local Husqvarna Honda Kawasaki dealer for racetech revalving. He has race tech revalved 4 of my Japanese bikes with great results. He honestly does not have the experience with the WP suspension especially the 4CS forks as some of the other suspension tuning specialists out there. 707racing has done hundreds of these. I looked into having a couple other outfits do the job including Kreft ,Still Well , Race Tech and Precision Concepts. In the end 707 was the best option. I had Jeremey Wilke update my forks from the 4cs asymmetrical to the Lucky 7 back in July before the central ADV rally and I am very happy with these forks now. So much so I haven't even touched the clickers after putting on 1200 plus offroad miles at the rally. Everything from hardpack rocky terrain to deep sugar sand. It even soaked up the baby heads and pointers which usually caused deflection on my last setup. I'm happy. Seems i have rebound adjustment on top now and mid/low speed compression on the bottom adjusters. More traditional open chamber setup I guess. I was handed a large bag of parts when I picked them up from MX-Tech...

It's a shame that a bike that MSRPs for over 11K has to have $1,000-$1,500 worth of work to fix the suspension. I guess I'm spoiled by getting a $200 re-valve to customize my suspension.

You don't but it's easier since the homework is already done. MXTech makes good stuff (I have AER items) but for the 4CS and OC design the cost would have made me go KYB instead.
