I got this bike and am ordering the manual cd's online. In the meantime I would like to adjust the clutch. There is very little feel in it right now. It feels as though it's either on or off. I was told to just lay it on it's right side, remove the clutch cover and tighten down the clutch bolts.

I have a modern Husky but this is my first vintage bike. Does this sound right? What should the clutch feel like compared to a more modern bike.

    thanks!

There is an adjustment in the middle of the clutch hub. And you adjust this to achive a distance from the clutch arm to the cable mount. I will try to find the dimension tonight.

    Ok, here ya go.
    Disconnect the clutch cable.
    Remove the cover.
In the center of the clutch is an allen screw held by a lock nut.
Hold the allen and loosen the lock nut.
Adjust the screw to get 7/16" to 9/16" of free play of the clutch arm when measured at the end of the arm.
Re attach the cable and adjust the handbar lever to 3/32" play between the lever and purch.

What I found when I had a similar problem was that the adjusting screw in the clutch was broken. Replace with grade 10.9 allen head set screw of approprate length. You should be able to get the set screw at thr local HDWE store.
