82 WR430 Shock gas pressure?

Rebuilding my rear shocks and need to know what pressure to Nitrogen fill the resevoirs to....and prefered fluid viscosity and brand for a 150lb slow guy. What was stock?

170-210 lbs N2 depending on how much you want the damp curve to progress with shaft position. Set the top of the float piston at 60mm from the top of the reservoir as you hold the shock upside down. (So it is really the bottom of both. )
I like Maxima Racing Shock fluid - Heavy. It is advertised as 10 wt and states it is made specifically for the Ohlins, Fox and other vintage shocks. You can also use the Ohlins fluid at 7.5 wt. It is a tad pricey for me. The Husqvarna service manual used to recommend ATF. I will disagree... now anyway. Technology has progressed and today's shock fluids offer tighter viscosity ranges and an improved batch of additives specific to suspension use.

"The Stock pressure setting is about 155 lbs". as stated from Husqvarna in the 1982 handbook. BTW Huskys "Auto" oil that was used in their rebuild manual came from Ohlins.

155lbs. of nitro. Silkolene Pro RSF @ 7.5 weight. Search "twinshock piggyback rebuild" in this forum for some very insightful tips and "how to" articles.
