Looking for some baseline carb settings for an 82 XC430... correct me if I'm wrong but stock was : MAIN=430 , PILOT=45 , NEEDLE 6DH3 in fourth position from top, SLIDE= 2.0 ,I CAN'T READ ANYTHING ON NEEDLE JET- some say the Q8 could be a left over from euro street specs, some say R4.
Some thoughts on Picklito suggestion from another post...Getting ready to order up new parts as needed to update; BASE: PILOT=45, MAIN 480, NEEDLE 6DH3 @ 3 POSITION, NEEDLE JET=R4, SLIDE=3.0If I can't find a 3.0 SLIDE but a 2.5 is available, then drop to a 40 PILOT.
As far as the air jet ,2.0 is standard but seems I read that some guys remove it to help starting.

    THANX FOR ANY INPUT!

Niche Cycle has 3.0 slide, just got one. They are close to you and stock everything for Mikuni.

The 480+ mains I recommend were mainly for sea level desert. Still, I think the stock size was too small. Some had 430, some 440, not sure why. I like a 450-460 for woods riding at 2000 ft.

Found stock was lean. Due to changing elevations all the time, am trying a SmartCarb 2 on mine. Will be here in a few weeks and will let you know how it does, if anyone's interested.
