I started a resto 0n a 83 wr 250 i was wondering about the frame mods ive seen, were the rear tubes were cut off and the two near the motor. Is this just a visual prefrance thing or does it serve a purpose.I dont have the headlight nor the rear fender with the light .Im going to put a cr fender on it and a # plate up front. One other question i have ,does any one make an after market pipe for this bike. Thanks for any input..

are you to taking about the rear fender loop and bash bar under the engine? Those are standard on the WR and XC. The CR did not have those for weight reduction. If you are wanting the CR look, then cut away, but don't cut anything else.

it should, you will just have to drill some holes for to reinstall the clamps..may have to try one or two different rear fenders to get one to fit nicely in the hoop.

Yes, the CR which is the same as the XC fender will fit just fine with the rear loop. Use the four rubber fender mounting clamps to mount the fender. That way you don't need to fasten the fender to the seat. This will allow you to remove the seat easily.
If you are going to ride in the woods/trail ride leave the rear loop on and don't cut it off like some people do. The reason is it gives you a good place to get a hold of the bike if you need to pick it up or lift the back of the bike.

the bottom bars were designed as crash bars in place of a bashplate. idea was to give enough protection from big rocks without a full plate collecting a ton of mud everytime you rode. they are a pain as they arnt flat and its difficult to set the bike on a flat stand.

Good for crossing logs though, slide up and over easily without drama.

not much on a husky that aint there for a reason....

The MX fender with still work with the XC/WR loop, just line it up with seat, but bolt it to the loop instead. That way you can take
the seat off & the fender stay put, I like the loop better cause you've got some thing stronger to tug on with putting it on a stand.

HERE'S what it will look like
