My new to me 83 XC 500. Wanted one for years to go with my 72 CR400 and 73 CR250. Bought this one 3/4 finished. Guy has not had it running but has rebuilt the motor and its ready to rock, Sort of!! It came with a PVL ignition. I have set the gap and timed it. Whenkicking it over it seems to have very little spark, A solid kick seems to have enough spark, but you realy get a full kick on these things with the plug in. Is that how the PVL works? Never had one before. Thinking of putting the motplate back in and trying it, but unsure of its condition. Speaking of them do you just put it at tdc and then line the pin hole up? Cheers from OZ

    the 500 looks great..
the pvl ignitions are known to have little spark for big bores, due to low rpm kicking.
for the motoplat..the hols are lined up, it sparks..but instead of tdc, you want this before tdc..i forget if the 500 is different than smaller engines..but you will want spark at about 1.5mm btdc or so..
