I have picked up a second hand pair of '84 WR forks and would like to know if they will be ok to fit onto a 1983 WR? I have read that the rake angle is slightly different on the '83 and '84 and am wondering how much this will effect the handling? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure there are No differences in the forks between 83 & 84 WR's, only the steering head angle changed.
So there should be NO difference if you swap them. Now if you put on XC or CR ones , they'd have longer tubes..

There is a difference in the wr (ae and te where aplicable) in overall length compared to cr xc (tx axc maybe also). It may just be the spindle in 83-84. Later the amount that sticks below the axle and tube length differs at least I think that is the case without researching it to be sure.

I too do kind of wonder how that rake angle effects handling and the fender rubbing the pipe and front down tube. Probably effects how far one puts the inside boot forward to go as fast as possible.

Fran is on it....sdamper rod for WR is shorter in WR but same in 83-84 In 84WR the amount that sticks below the axle is about an inch and a half shorter so for uppers are that much longer

Thanks for info, going to strip them both down and do some measuring.
