g'day, i have recently bought a 96 wr 250, 1st 2 stroke ive owend. was told it had new cylinder, piston, rings, and crank seals. 1st ride since rebuild went good, no problems. seconds ride i had a shit load of problems starting it. pulled carby off and give it a clean. started no worries. went for a ride and it was like the bike would not hit powerband, it would just bog down until you change gears, was blowing a lot of smoke, then all of a sudden it just started blowing black smoke and burning transmission oil through exhaust. i stopped riding straight away. bike was still running and had plenty of compression.
any ideas as to why it would not hit band, and if i blew crank seal when she started blowing black smoke, if crank seal, would it still have plenty of compression? thanks in advance

Yes it sounds like you sucked a crank seal. I would check for a clogged muffler as well. I would just repack it since new packing is about 7 dollars.
