I bought this locally yesterday, obviously stored and never ridden from new. Special Edition Knight Rider graphics package. Lovingly cared for by previous owners. Actually not that bad, great Pro Circuit pipe, new rear tire, looks like the forks have been re-valved at some distant point. Starts on first kick but runs a tad rich. This is one for my son to ride if it ever cools down here in Phoenix, maybe Octoberish. Thinking all white plastic with red and white Cemoto graphics, going to pull top end off and take a peek inside, may not have seen too much love from previous owner unless I'm way off base and the factory used wood screws to attach clutch cover and side panels....wish me luck.

Good luck and the looks of the frame and engine and SA are AOK from the pics ... I rode the 02 CR250 in my avatar for ~6 seasons in GPNF ... Almost ZERO issues and never really lost a drag race on that bike (against mostly Kawis)... Never spent much time on the bike except riding it ... Working and traveling about ~15hrs a day back then ...

Wood screws on clutch cover? Ohh dear the plastics can go but fair play those are getting tough to find, in any condition (here in uk anyway)
Good luck with the beautification and hope it is just skin deep.

As a vintage guy, this bike is comparatively concours condition. Some of the stuff I've found and restored would scare the cast of The Walking Dead. Ebay has pretty much everything needed to bring this back.

Pretty easy fix and clean. Shouldn't break the bank. Strip it, clean it and run through the mechanicals. By the way, what did you have to give for it? I only ask because I just missed a chance to buy a '02 CR250 for $1000 and it looked pretty decent...

Got it for $500. I watched this bike on CL go from an asking price of $1100 on down to $600.

You stole it. Will be EZ to get it 100%. Plastics can be bought new Ez and in several colors. these are the end of the CR breed and have amazing motors and the rest of the bike is very solid. I saved a roached 2002 CR250 from the dead and absolutely love it and it is my main single track bike right now. I searched that model and year out because I knew it was the pinnacle of that line at the time and love the 2000-04 platform.

Info and build of that bike here - http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/next-project-2002-cr250.39394/

    You think yours looks bad?

Much better now but still far from a beauty queen because I ride the snot out of her and dont need a garage queen.

Been as reliable as a freaking hammer, has an awesome motor, is a great bike. Revalved the forks and shock myself (way more plush for off road). 3.4 IMS tank, Seat concepts seat (amazing).

BTW (sorry slight sales mode here as i sell these) I have a crazy good setup for the Lectron carb for these now. Mine runs WAY better than stock, Way more and smoother power and 6-10 MPG better. I am getting 31 MPG, which means I;m good for 105 miles a tank with my 3.4 IMS AND, it runs fantastic with gobs of power everywhere. Everyone who rides it says it feels like a 300. Lugs for days, no real need to rev it at all because it makes so much bottom and mid but when you do it is a rocket on top too. Spent the last 5-6 rides working on perfecting metering rods for the Lectron for this bike and it is amazing.

IMHO this platform and bike are very well worth tossing money into. I traded off with a 2013 KTM 300 the other day, other than not looking as new and cool as the KTM I felt I gave nothing away to it. In fact my bike felt more planted and settled than his. Motor wise I liked mine better. KTM had slightly more bottom but my CR ran way better and made more flexible power everywhere. KTM owner went from not wanting to swap cuz he had to ride my bike (but let me ride it as he was sorting a brake issue) to "ride it as long as you like, I'm really liking your old bike" Heck even if you toss $1500 at that bike your still have a bargain. My buddy with the 07 WR250 husky hates riding it because it is so much better than his bike. Motor stomps his, gets WAY better MPG, slimmer, feels lighter, my suspension job is good and really good for him as he likes soft (slightly to soft for me). Feel free to ask questions.

    Enjoy.

    kev900sp,

I have a set of the red/white Cemoto Husky kit for that era. I was going to use on my 01 WR250, but the white/black/red kit didn't work so well with all the yellow plastic I put on.
Was trying to go with a Suz RMZ color combo, but didn't work

These are the latest of the 07 TC450 and the 02 CR250 with newer plastic. I still need a tank for this bike, if anyone has one please let me know.
