Photo 1: Stocker. As bought it was all garred up. Functional but ugly. Clear number plate material cut and installed on stocker. An improvement ----- BUT

    Photo 2: Pattern used.

Photo 3: Under the knife .....saw.... and in the process of. Stocker is covered w/ blue painter's tape. Pattern from above is cut out and traced onto blue tape. Corners drilled out with wood bit - smooth cut. Metal guide bar clamped to cover and straight lines cut by hand w/ hack saw blade. For filing/smoothing/straightening out the cuts, the metal guide was used again.

Photos 4 & 5: Aluminum mesh riveted in. Mounted up.

Going to be fine for intended street use but I wouldn't use this cover for dirt use. The filter is way too exposed and there is little to no H20 protection.

    Highdez,
Failed expiriment. (At least it was a rat cover) Aluminum mesh I used was too filmsy/thin and would/is not attched well to the interior of the cover. I tried to use pop rivets w/ washers on the back side and it just wouldn't work. To really attach this material well you would end up using so many rivets that it just wouldn't be worth the trouble it in the long run. I would not recommend this current setup for street use and in no way would I give it a thumbs up for dirt riding application. Might as well just take the cover off.

White Bros. sells some 1" plug in vents. Thats the way to go for extra venting requirements IMO. I've got 8 or 9 laying around from a prior project. I will be using those, if I can talk myself into punching some holes in a brand new air box cover.

    Motsportz,
    Yes, sm conversion in progress.

I ran plug mount on the inside(LH) side of the airbox and ended up tossing them after a couple of rides because 1) their little foam filters retain water and 2) they pushed into the air filter. Now i run them open (5 holes) and i gues if it's really muddy or dusty i could always tape over the holes but who am i kidding? i'm in socal and we don't ride in that s#*&t!
