• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Air forks tossed (spoiler)

CR22 is reported to have tossed the air forks ...

Seems a little weird these guys can go against the companys' latest and greatest ...

~3:12 mark

Not surprised by pros racing non-endorsed product, just surprised that they are candid about it.

Air forks are on the new bikes these japan companies are selling ...

He's not the only one to have issues with this air bag device .... Either RV2 is dialed in now or he has tossed them also ...

while they now are minus the springs, it has over double the oil capacity and the dampening components are more complex and heavier. I think it's back to the drawing boards for the new forks...

And I thought that's why they were filled with nitrogen

Boyle's law states that all gasses expand at basically the same rate. The moisture in air is more of a problem but dry air and nitrogen perform the same. The nitrogen molecule is larger than oxygen's and is the primary reason it is preferred as it doesn't leak through rubber as easily. More of an issue in shock bladders and tires.

They don't work very well. Spring rate changes with shock temperature.

It does anyway whether air is the primary (only) spring or just the secondary spring. The spring shocks we all love and accept are subject to, and exhibit, the same effects of expansion. I don't think that is the issue with them ... It is in its infancy of R&D and they are dealing with a significantly larger cartridge and valving. It will take time.

I'm still not sold and prefer springs front and rear! So does Reedy! And Dungey LOL!
