• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Air/Oil Filters

Heres what air filter looks like, close to a Briggs&Stratton lawn mower. Remove it from right side front as you are sitting on bike. I may have to work on enlarging air intake hole as it is not very big.

How about measurments? With the overall dim's of the filter I might be possible to crossreference with aftermarket offerings.

I know this is an old thread but any more info on an replacement air filter???:excuseme:
I've not looked at all... I've got a *whole* lot of things to address first, and I really don't see a paper air filter getting that dirty the way I am planning to use my bike in the next few months.

Hopefully your right.

With all the Forest/Dirt road around here (it's like a fine baby powder) I can see changing it lots.
A couple you can wash and have a spare ready to go is the only way I can see this happening.

Yes that's right it's a throw away (paper) in the bike now. You can spray it with air to help clean it, but once it's used for a while it will have to be changed sooner or later with a new one.

Does anyone live near a BMW motorcycle shop...and wouldn't mind taking in their air filter... to check to see if it's the same as one of these.

F 650 F 650 GS (HP: | Year: 00>08)
F 650 F 650 GS DAKAR (HP: | Year: 01>07)
G 650 G 650 GS (HP: | Year: 08>12)
G 650 G 650 GS Sertao (HP: | Year: 11>12)

I might have a line on a washable one from BMC Filters. :excuseme:

My preference is for an oiled cotton gauze main air filter with an oiled foam pre-filter over the intake snorkel, this worked a treat on my 650gs twin, just had an oiled exchange foam ready to go on the road. After 40000ks the main filter looked ready for another 40.

Peace and respect, Navelgazer

I've been in contact with Touratech USA and asked how many sales it would take to design and make a "washable air filter for our TR's.

Just came back with ...maybe a BMW one would fit. If we all email them maybe we could get a better answer. sales@touratech-usa.com

Is there anyone close to Airport Way South Seattle that could take their air filter in so they can look at it. Preferably still on the bike so they can see how tight things are.

I work right down the road from Touratech. They have a Terra in their showroom...I was just there buying foot pegs for mine. I'll swing in next week and see if I can compare filters.

Harder,

This is what Touatech sent me today. Unless this is your filter in the picture...because you already was there...:D

I'm excited about this one...Could you go and see if you can stuff that sucker into that small little air box hole on your bike...(and no sex joke...OK)

We might have a winner here.

Dave,

Here is a photo of the closest filter we have. The rubber seal portion is exactly right but because of the airbox design it will be difficult to get this filter all the way in place.
