Posted a thread about my piston earlier, most likely a bit of the powervalve chiped off and did some damage to my piston and cylinder. This is quite while ago, and the bike still runs great.
How ever, i noticed compression got lover after this sh*t happened. But it wasent that bad (170psi) and i havent noticed changes yet. Before this happened it was a pain to start sitting down, now thats no problem. :P
Bike runs fine, and its like a monster in the midrange\high rpms.
Still, i feel like something is different.
When i got the bike i was amazed about hard it pulled in low rps, like i was afraid to pop a wheelie.
Also i feel the edge is missing overall. Dont get me wrong, the thing still halls ass but i feel it isnt quite as powerful in low\mid and something is missing where powerband hits you.

Im gonna change piston soon, hope the compression will be like it was when i first rode it.
But than again, could it be me getting used to the power of the bike?
Im just not that blown away with the power anymore, and its like i missing more low end that i think the bike had before.
Am im getting used to 250, and new piston will not give me the result im hoping for.

What do you guys thing, does the 250 still blow you away?
Have you got more performance overall with a new top-end that give the bike new life?

    :)

has the compression changed? it could be something else wrong on the bike but could also be you getting used to the bike.
i think you are getting used to bike...my older husky 250 would do this to me as well. especially after riding my 360 i thought the bike was going to blow up.

I havent measured it, but maybe its a tad lower when the bike is hot. But im not sure.
But its lower than when i got it.
I hope i can get the performance i want with new piston. But i have the habit of always wanting something more powerful, maybe i need to get a cr500. But i hope not :P

Not sure on the actual performance of the bike but we all get used to what ever outside force(s) we are exposed to ... That would include speed and HP for bikes ... 30MPH is about my top speed on the trails ...If I speed up 2MPH past my comfort zone, I'd swear my speed has doubled and my brain has issues keeping up with what is happening at this higher speed ... Jump take-0ffs really show up big here on the extra speed and quickness at the lift-0ff moment to jump just a little further ...

Crashing is always one way to bring myself and speed, back to earth...

I have a CR500, but the 250 and 360's are more fun to ride
realistically you get used to anything that got your attention at first
i remember my first 250 ride, now it seems sedate, but it's not
it can still almost kill you like a big bore, that said,,, a 500 in 6th gear on the pipe is a whole new experience

I borrowed a WR250 yesterday from a fellow CH member for an all 2 stroke National and was really surprised how hard it pulled. Wasn't expecting it to rip as hard or maybe even harder than my 449.

Been a looong time since I'd thrown a leg over a modern water cooled two smoker and it was a blast!

Was hoping to get lucky. :P
Hmm. Im hoping that new piston will give more grunt in to it. Im guite sure that it had more overall grunt before. And its not that im just used to it. :p

it could be wear out of other parts in the engine or simply a clogged exhaust (carbon deposits over the years it is now)

Rejetting made mine a lot more fun to ride because it greatly increased the throttle response. My first season l went off the back due to whiskey throttle over the whoops. This season I have better throttle control & am getting used to the power. I can fly through the whoops & rarely get my front wheel too high. I switch bikes occasionally with some of my buddies that ride 4 strokes & the excitement just isn't there, my bike just feels alive. This is my first 2 stroke & I wish I would have bought one when I was young. I am getting used to my bike, but never bored. Point & shoot, nothing like the thrill of getting on the pipe.
