Ok gang it is almost here Round 10 Last round for the year.Location Camp Rock Road North Anderson Luceren Calif I am loop captain I set up the course as a easy super fun but still a National Loop 1 is 40 miles but split in 2 so after 20 miles you will come down pit row. Then if you are a 2 looper it is out for another 40 miles .All 3 loops are different Any bike will make loop 1 so bring out your dual sport or motocross bike I have been told that Husky /BMW of Long Beach is doing a Husky Demo Ride in the same area just down the road So come do a demo and then come race Since I will be working the race I can not race it BUT I have been around it many times and it is the best not a hard National This is the one to try OK mr Robert I am calling you and your 310 out I will even pay your entry if you show up You have been there before so come out again Come Sat night and I will even buy you dinner
jeez man you're killin me. OK I will really think hard on it. (my last Nat H&H as a B rider....) not too much time to think.
OK John I have questions. If I sign 50B (I still need to maintain B status until end of year for Husky contingency) do I get to do all the loops? or do 50Bs just do 2? (I'll check the flyer as well) If I come up I need to all the loop 3 tuff stuff too to make it worth the trip. Can I do the B classification loops then go out on L3 unclassified (kind of chase rider?). I will be A for 2013 my first "official" A class race being the Tecate Hare Scrambles. Just printed the flyer. its 2 loops OK. My full course question is answered.
No answers??? John If I'm in I'll be there on Sat eve and sleep in the truck bed (not under the truck Wattsy style). I'll check in with the 100's MC folks if I dont see you. No real prep time, prob just a fresh airfilter. oil is pretty fresh, mousses are near the end of lifecycle (good for traction), tires are good, rider is....ok for tight technical single track..., bike is geared loooww for tight single track, but I did follow a friend in Mexico down some dirt roads at speed/rpm up high, so I can make her work safely. You bastages got me in the accept the challenge mode up now. I'm now at the 80% yes mark on the race meter. Tell me there is some scary/ugly/separate the riders stuff, then I may be competitive against the Dez hi speed open stuff guys.
Ryan just answered my uglyness question. and he's on your Husky "125". http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10100203914126450
Another one completed (all loops done, never a H&H DNF) Many thanks to AJAX-John Kearney and the 100s MC for paying my entry. Dust was a big factor at the start and in some sections, but most was dez single track and only the D37 sharp rocks, steep hills and some deep sand were a factor! Temp was perfect. My TE310 with 13/52 final drive was fine at my 50B skill level and speed and with my plush enduro suspension. Made my best pass on a rocky/gnarley downhill off the race line past 2 guys. Started on B line (line 2) and got completely dusted. Throughout the race passed many more riders than riders passing me, so I'm always OK with that. Missed the crest of one long steeper at the top rocky hill (UGLY HILL), but settled down and cross hilled into the rocks for traction and made it, lots of carnage there, bikes all over the place. Had one slow tangle up fall on the ugliest downhill supposedly on the section of the King of motos course, got the front wedged and got OTB slowly. Took a little rest at the bottom of that section and lost a couple spots but needed some recovery time for safety. Over all it was another tough Nat N&H challenge @ 85miles good stuff. Pros/As left maybe 15 mins ahead of line 2 and finished 2 friggan hours ahead of me.......sick speed. My San Diego crew of 1 30B and 1 40B finished 45mins ahead of 50B me and raced wheel to wheel the entire race right to the finish, very cool!! Oh yea about 10 miles from the finish I tagged a big rock and tore my foot peg almost off, the upper mount tab is broken off, and the peg is hanging back, been focusing on the ball of foot riding, thankfully!! I rode her in with my foot resting on what is left of the upper mount so as to not completely lose my peg assembly for reweld. Time to do a maintenance tear down and prep for the Tecate HS 1 Dec. 2011 TE310 (12 TXC spec) performed flawlessly.
season ending drama. http://www.race-dezert.com/home/drama-on-pit-row-thrs-david-pearson-throws-the-title-35721.html
Video's of the Bomb starts and a few photos of the Husky racers from the pit area. A little shaky, but shows the crazy bomb run! https://picasaweb.google.com/105926...&authkey=Gv1sRgCLjequu8l8DGew&feat=directlink

Robert Thank You and your friends for comming out and running round 10 of the Nationals It is just to bad that other Husky owners and staff from the new Husky West Coast Headquarters do not come out to the place where Husky use to rule.I quest the idea of riding so far away from sight of the pits and there truck has them wanting to stay away.I know the youngest rider we had was 12 and the oldest was 76 so it can be done Round 1 starts up again end of Jan 2013 same area so see you there . My bike will have # 3 on it for 2013 Hope to see more Husky riders next year
I believe one of our Arizona riders on a Husky 144 won the lightweight 40B championship - Vance Kennedy.
John told me at the start line that the first 20 miles he laid out were going to be good and he was right on. I was really having a good time in that section, lots of virgin and seldom used trail with plenty of rocks and cross grain. The entire first loop was pretty good and marked very well. The second loop just didn't do it for me, lots of fast valleys, a couple of good sections but they were all short. They may as well have ended the race after the Checkers downhill, 15 plus miles of valley back to the finish, not very inspired.
PS Chilly you were 100% correct (at my level of speed- open dez slow) the 13/52 trail riding gear set on my TE310 was fine and for sure helped in the tough stuff and hills.
woo hoo podium!!! 3rd in SSN B (50B) class from 17. 75 Husky bucks nice. http://www.moto-tally.com/nhha/results.aspx?EY=2012&EID=10&SC=C18&SV=CT All three of us got 3rd, Eric 3rd 30B, Steve 3rd 40B, Rob 3rd 50B. fun stuff!! (lucky for me the fastest/P1 50B DNF'd L3)
Mr Robert you must really feel like a sponsored rider free entry and now money from Husky I am sure you will report all winning to the IRS less deductions for all it really cost to go racing Which meens you still lost money Thanks again for comming. John
Thanks John, Husky Na all ready has my W9........ all earnings are reported...... no need to remind me (ha ha). it all looks good on paper/internet, but of course reality bites!! And again thank you so much for the entry fee waiver, fuel alone was about 100 bucks for bike+ truck. PS Worthy of mention and commendation, Scott S another Husky rider ( former USMC like me) I know persevered and finished 10th 40B. He finished from about mile 67 by manually pulling his broken off throttle cable, while riding through some fairly rocky stuff to complete the event without a DNF!!
