http://etra.net/PDFs/2013OfficialFlyer.pdf Husqvarna TXC511 mounted Cory Graffunder had a massive lead in this event last year before a tangle with a lapped rider dropped him to second shortly before the finish..Will Cory be back? Will the TXC310R be an even stronger bike for the course than his TXC511 was last year? (Its hard to image a more dominant ride...but we can hope.) Cafe Husky sponsor Bills Motorcycles Plus returns as an event sponsor this year also. Bring your Husqvarna and join us at the Funky Chicken
I'll be making the trip from central CA but won't be on the husky, I'll be on the beta 300rr. I'm thinking about bringing the kid with me, can you shed any light on the length and difficulty of the 85cc race? I haven't made this race for a few years but it is certainly my favorite of all time, if you've never done this one your missing out.
It looks like the kid has 2 options, either the AMA 85 age group, or the OMRA Jr X class. Best if you peruse both rulebooks. You will notice that the Jr X class runs with the big bike classes on Sat on the full course. The other mini classes run on a shorter modified course...probably more grass track, less single track and hills. There are videos on the ETRA website if you want to see what the terrain looks like.
I plan to be there on my 165... Just booked our room in Eugene for Friday night. Looking forward to it! Here is my boy doing lap 1 of the short kids course... Proud of him, he didn't wreck once last year!!
For those who dont know the area.... Sutherlin and Cottage Grove are the closest motels, after that Roseburg to the south and Eugene north. There may be rooms at the Big K ranch available....and the race site itself is a great place to camp..pasture on top of a hill.
ETRA did a great job on the course...grass track was super fun! The single track in the woods was killer, 14 miles of pure pain! I completed 4 laps in the B SSR class, finished 3rd in class on my YZ125! Would I go back???....heck ya Nor.Cal District 36 riders made a very strong showing. One of my car pool buddys pulled a RUDE hole shoot in the B Vet class on his KTM 200 and took home the win in class! Check this event off the bucket list
ETRA is always happy to hear from satisfied customers.....Come back and bring your friends This is the first time Ive seen dust issues.....usually we are worried about rain making some of those hills impassable!
nice goatee!!! Way to support the sport and the sponsors/organizers (hard workers) ---my saying-participate dont spectate, and as Ajax says even the view from the last place finisher is always better than from the grandstands/sidelines.
Funky Chicken and Series Finals are posted for AMA National Western HS...including the series win with the Team Johnson Bros/BMP front wheel (note that Mr. Campbell seems to have upgraded his bike recently to be on the Husqvarna team)
