We were a little apprehensive heading south with the weather report being what it was... But we've done mud runs before. It rained over night and sprinkled a little in the morning, but believe it or not, it did not rain the entire day. Everyone was staying warm without having to stay dry. Only at Steele Creek...Cool! As usual Andy's line was the next to last row, lots of passing again. There were 12 bikes in his class with a couple of the same riders from 2 weeks ago. He came off the line mid-pack, when his bike fired and he dropped the clutch the bike didn't move....just dug a hole, lots of soaked grass. Apparently he thought it didn't fire and went for the kicker again only to realize things were on! We are going to chalk that up as a ''learning experience'' on wet sod...Getting his act together and not panicking he moved out and was around 6th going into the woods. The first lap thru he was in 1st with a couple of riders hot on his heels...(Andy's in the Blue Jacket) He came thru the second lap in 1st with a couple of riders still hot on his heels... The third lap found him 4 seconds behind first with a rider hot on his heels... Towards the end of the fourth and final lap he went down hard in a section that had been risky to go fast in all day. Apparently some side swapping in the sand whoops put him down. By the time he gathered himself and got going he lost a lot of ground. The checkered found him in 3rd, down a couple of minutes. He was hurting a little when he pulled in. Sand and mud was packed in his neck brace, down his jersey and up his helmet. All in all he'll be ok. Andy said he and the other two front runners were at it all race. Cat and mouse waiting to see who made the mistakes...and by the sounds of it there were plenty. He said they were all down numerous times only to catch back up and push. And push they did, Andy got 3rd in class and 19th overall. Making him the top finishing Husky in the morning race. Good time had by all, bike ran great...have not even cleaned it yet or looked at the plug. Can't find the plug... Got some plastic torn up, but nothing major. Might be a good time for the 144...the extra cc's would be good against the 200s.
