The road trip to Ohio was uneventful. To the track to sign up and off to the hotel, this trip took an unexpected pleasant turn…imagine who we ran into at the hotel; Glenn Kearney... Some good conversation, equal exchange of best wishes. I have been having some trouble with gas overflow out of the carb bowl hose. Thought I had this fixed. Got to the track early Sunday, Andy went for Tech Inspection, came back with fuel free flowing again. I pulled the carb, reset the float level, and put it back on the bike…Now no fuel flow??? Pulled the carb, again… reset the level, blew through all the holes, vents, fill spout…some panic setting in, not long till lineup… this time, no overflow and the bike ran, we'll go with it… This was the morning race at 10AM. 26 bikes on the 200 C, Schoolboy line. About 10 rows back in this mass… Very long up hill start…got pulled by the 200's ended up about mid pack into the woods. The lap times were around the 1/2 hour mark. He came thru in 6th on the first lap. Than 6th, 7th and 7th for the next three. The last lap sign came out at 2 hours and 10 minutes. This is supposed to be a 2 hour event. With 1 more 1/2 hour lap to go I decided to gas him. I don't think the IMS would go 2 1/2 hours at race pace. At this point he was still on the lead lap and the time spread between him in 7th and 4th place was 22 seconds. I'm not sure where it came from but he put the hammer down when others were fading and came through the finish 4th. He pulled to within 25 seconds of 3rd (another WR125!) and finished 40 seconds ahead of 5th. Ended up 4th in class out of 26 bikes and 43rd overall out of 402 bikes. He felt pretty good, said he did not go down once. That's a first. Suspension must be working some what right. Cracked the engine head stays…all else seems ok. Andy said there was and I heard a bog the last couple of turns; the carb vent hoses were clogged solid, I hope this was the cause. I need to re-rout apparently. I did some simple air box mods the keep the slop out; it worked will post pictures.
Nice one - thanks for the report . I am jealous of the amount of racing you guys get . Was that a good result for him ? Does he like the bike ???
when its super gloppy out ill shorten my overflow hoses and split them about and inch or so and give them a good coating of PAM. make sure they dont have a loop or bend in them so as to allow a puddle of fuel to form. there;s a ton of other ways to keep them clear too so... also wanna see you air box mods as my wet season is coming. (or so its been called lol) i normally use tape and open cell foam etc. congrats again and i'm stoked for your team and that sharp looking little racer. that's a bike yall can be proud of and bench race in the garage with sitting around sipping cold ones looking at it. damn fine job guys. stay safe and keep shredding.
Excellent stuff! Tell the kid "congrats" for me It's heartwarming to see the little tiddlers doing well in the 200 class. I've been entertaining thoughts about doing a few enduros again myself  WoodsChick
great ride, great finish percentage numbers, in class and OA, especially from mid-back row start!! also note if not done be sure to tee the carb vents (each one up into airbox each one down and center split the ends)
Race Report followup... Everyone…Thanks for the great comments; Andy does keep up with the current events on Cafehusky… Andy said he's just doing his part to spread the awareness of the Husky's… Rockdancer, to answer your questions…He does like the bike…it's growing on him. Suspension is working great; he's learning where the power is and how to apply for best forward motion. At the race he said the bike was very consistent and predictable; power, suspension and brakes… always a plus. At this point…It was a good race for him. The 200 C class is very competitive. Actually this was only his 2nd adult 2 hour race; he is still not in very good condition after breaking his arm in the spring and his collarbone 6 weeks ago. But we are trying to get a few late season rides in. He knows he has some work to do to get back to speed... Here's a general rundown of his past performance… 2009 GNCC 4th Place in series, 85cc 12-15 2008 Pa.Dist. 6 Hare Scramble Champion, 85cc 12-15 2008 Pa. Awesome job Andy. I wish Husky made a 200 to compete in the class but it looks like Andy and the 3rd place Husky riders make the 125's work. Thanks for posting up the race results and story. I enjoy reading father son stories.
Yeah, Where is the 200! I'll be in the nursing home/on social security by the time that comes out! Only thing I can make go faster is my walker or wheel chair! Good Job Andy, Now Get Your Dad Back In It!
