Anybody who would like to join us at Troy Meadows off of Sherman Pass Road in Sequoia National Forest in August please have a looky-see at this link at SDAR. http://www.dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5029&hl= I probably won't have the TE with me, as I will be using one of my little green two stroke machines. All CH riders are welcome to join the fun.
This place? Is the campground open meadows or trees? http://gis.fs.fed.us/r5/sequoia/recreation/campgrounds.html
That would be the one on the Kern Plateau. It's on Sherman Pass road. Here's a link to last summers ride complete with pretty pictures. http://www.dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2799&hl=
oooooo I like pretty pictures! I put it on the calender, it sounds quite interesting and I do like the area. Now when I look near the 'whos online' section it will be listed. http://www.cafehusky.com/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=10&day=2009-8-11
One of the guys who is going, snapped pictures of the weather out over the area of Troy Meadows etc while he was piloting an aircraft. Ooooh, neato. Less than a month to go.
Well, it's about two weeks away now and we have a pretty small group so far. Looks like it won't be a mob scene on the trail. Last year we had 6 riders, this year currently there are only 3 committed to the trip.
I really should not take more time away from home in the near future but I will keep thinking about it.
Four strong riders (and me too) have committed to the trip now, about a week and a half out. Exciting stuff....except for the camping part.
Things are shaping up well as we get down to less than a week til the trip. Six riders are going and even a Husqvarna will probably be there.
By today, seven lucky riders are packing to leave first thing in the morning. Pics, etc. upon our return.
I just got back. Great weather, dusty trails. Could use a little rain up there. There are a few trail closues due to a controlled burn, so check with the ranger station to see if they are still closed. Most of all, have fun!!
Got back yesterday from our trip It was a different type of adventure with different weather and conditions and some different people this year. Here's the link to the ride report: http://www.dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5346
Awesome trip you had. Somehow I got the impression it was going to be non-stop riding on tough trails...
Not everybody from the group has posted their part of the story yet. Jeff was out riding on a rocky downhill switchback and cut a little too sharp. He went head to head with a tree on the inside of the turn and literally exploded his video camera on it The guys beat their brains out for the most part, while us gals took the tourist appoach. One of the guys appeared to have not ridden at all. I think he sat around camp and drank beer most of the time.
One of the guys fell off a cliff on Rincon trail and got pretty banged up, but not enough to quit riding. I don't know what that one critter was that I heard roaring during the night, but it wasn't little, I'm pretty sure!
I can feel his pain! I did the same thing the last time I rode the Rincon I smashed my ICO to smithereens, too, and it had to be replaced. Sounds like y'all had a good time up there. Sure wish I could have gone. Seeing the green meadows and wildflowers really makes me miss that place. Were there a lot of people down there? I'd love to ride it before everything turns brown. Thanks for the link! WoodsChick
There weren't very many other riders out there. But that's one of the reasons we like to ride up there on weekdays.
