Although I'm pretty new to Cafe Husky, having been a lurker for about a year, I finally purchased my first TR650 in early February, and for me with a few of the mods posted here,it fit my bill and vision of what I wanted in a dual purpose bike perfectly. I had been a dirt bike fein in my youth, having competed in both AMA Hillclimbing and motocross, then for a number of years I owned a number of one off customs and ultimately got into the touring scene, travelling many miles on various Harley touring bikes. A couple years ago I bought a DRZ400s and my son a 350 SXF converted to street legal and we began having lots of fun riding in the woods, but neither were great on the road after a few miles so the search began for a kinder, friendlier bike for me to hopefully do some big miles combined with some off roading. I had tried the KLR on a full day excursion once, combining both on and off road and it was much better for me than the DRZ, and I thought I would probably settle for that, until I realized the Husky could be had in the same price range. After buying one and riding it some over the last couple months and doing the mods, I couldn't be more pleased, so yesterday I confirmed the purchase of a Strada for my son with BroadwayRon. Since we will travel a lot together we can cut down on some of the redundancy of the gear we carry. But to make a long story short, I have never, in any purchase I have made in my life, had a more pleasant experience, than the one with BroadwayRon. He is a class act, and went above and beyond to arrange shipping and take care of the details of the sale, and I really appreciate that.
I've been on both KLR and DRZ. While both great bikes they lack the "pop and pizzaz" of the TR650. Good choice and have fun !
