We are not what I would call close, at least 300 miles apart, but I am in "North Florida". I am in the panhandle near Panama City. I do have family up on Amelia Island and I do throw the bike in the truck when I go over there to visit.
Yup, dont blink or you might miss Cook Bayou Our claim to fame is a wise mullet and a funky open air bar.
Well I am from bunnell fl so it was similar now palm coast has grown so much in the last 10 years it went from on traffic light to three now. Lol looks like good area to ride your bike though
Like the rear box you have. I have been using a backpack but thinking about going with some thing similar
The box is a Givi E26N if you didnt allready know, I have had it on a few of my bikes now. The GIVI label has come off and I broke the latch when I dropped it once, but it still functions and still looks great. I really should buy a new one though as they are only $65. I bought it originally for my X-challenge as I thought its size did not overwhelm the bike like some bigger boxes do. I think the same holds true on the Terra. Another benefit is the GIVI base plate also works well for a soft bag platform.
Three trafffic lights....thats the damn city. I am very spoiled, I have 1 stop sign on my commute. Yea the area is OK for riding..... as florida goes.
The soft bag looks even better. I need to get one to carry my rain suit, shoes and a spare set of clothes. Think it would all fit in there? The white on your bike and the forks make it look like a whole different bike. Is it a different bike? LOL Did you sand of the black and polish the upper forks? HAHAHA Just got it X-challenge never actually looked at one before looks are close. How would you compare them?
Yea the white one is not a Terra; it’s an X-Challenge. LOL Oddly they don’t compare as much as you might think by how similar they appear and that they are both German/Italian 650 single orphans of mother BMW. I truly believe that BMW hates 650 singles…they kill off every one they can. The X-Challenge was noticeably lighter but the stock suspension was garbage and for me the bike was fragile. It was trying to be an enduro bike like a KTM, but it was not in that same class. It was a bare bones, stripped down bike for $9000 ($10,000+ in today’s money) that was not worth what it cost. The stock fuel capacity was also a joke, I could not go 100 miles on a tank. The Terra on the other hand is not an enduro bike, it’s a light weight adventure bike, kind of like a KLR only LOTS better. So far it seems to be well worth what it cost and then some. Its stock fuel capacity could be better, but at least it breaks 100 miles with some margin. Even though the engines are based on the same BMW 650, it is worlds smoother and more powerful in the Terra. I do have to say the X-Challenge did have just a little more bottom end punch that I wish the Terra had. The X-Challenge was pretty smooth for a single, the Terra is smooth…. period. They don’t really even feel the same, if I did not know better I would swear the Terra was a 2 cylinder.
Good comparison glad I waited. I was always looking for a hot rod xr650 or a way to make it happen and never got close. With these bikes coming out thought maybe it would give them competition and the wars would be on but since they wont be made again not sure it will change any thing now.
